An invitation from the Chief Executive It gives me great pleasure to formally offer you the opportunity to partner with us for our NSW Health Pathology Awards 2021: Caring, Connecting and Pioneering - for all of us NSW Health Pathology is a trusted partner delivering highly specialised public pathology and forensic services for the people of NSW. Our staff across NSW are committed to our purpose of creating better health and justice systems. We put people at the heart of all we do, treating every person, sample and result with utmost care. We find the answers that matter at all stages of life. Most recently, our 5,000 staff have risen to the occasion and played a critical role in managing the COVID-19 pandemic in NSW. Virologists, microbiologists, scientists, couriers, data analysts, information technology engineers and all types of support staff – to acknowledge just a few – have all played a vital role. Learn more about our COVID-19 response on page eight. I can think of no better time than right now to genuinely recognise our dedicated staff and reward our people. Our staff deserve praise and recognition for going above and beyond, including those who have maintained critical public pathology and forensic investigations during the COVID-19 pandemic. These awards give us the opportunity to showcase the extraordinary achievements, collaborations and innovations of our people and our services. It’s also been aligned with our caring, connecting and pioneering spirit. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues in 2021, we don’t know if we can hold a COVID-19 safe event in person, or if it will be virtual. Regardless, we’ll still be celebrating our people and that’s why programs like this are so important to us. We are offering a variety of sponsorship opportunities for organisations to partner with us to strengthen and build relationships across our statewide network. Please take the opportunity to review our sponsorship proposal and contact Kristy Waddell, Strategic Communications, if you have any questions – Kristy.Waddell@health.nsw.gov.au or 0434 609 502. I hope you will partner with us on our 2021 NSW Health Pathology Awards: Caring, Connecting and Pioneering - for all of us. Tracey McCosker PSM Chief Executive NSW Health Pathology Page 3

Celebrating our people Last year we held our inaugural gala awards in the very early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. In hindsight we were very fortunate to be able to celebrate together in this way. In the light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we hope that a COVID-19 safe event will be possible. However, we will be guided by the public health advice, and may need to adapt and change the delivery of the 2021 awards program (such as a holding virtual event with local STAFF MEMBER: Professor Dominic Dwyer ‘watch parties’). POSITION: Director, Public Health Pathology and Senior Medical Virologist Finalists and winners will still be announced and celebrations will take a different shape, based on the public health orders at the time. STORY: Our leading COVID-19 expert. Regardless, we will remain flexible and adaptable and still plan to come together in some way, to celebrate our achievements.
