COVID Emergency Response - NPAIHB Situation Report: 8/24/21 Come on people now, smile on your brother… • Full FDA approval of Pfizer vaccine, 16+, “Comirnaty” • J&J for 18+, Moderna for 16+, Pfizer for 12-15 remain EUA approved • Additional dose of Pfizer or Moderna for immunocompromised • 28 days post 2nd dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, specific conditions • Anticipate full approval of other COVID vaccines and development of childhood vaccines, “booster” for adults 8 months post • Unvaccinated are the problem – behavioral health risk or social risk? State of Idaho Take Home Messages • In Idaho, AI/AN COVID-19 cases have increased 61% over the past 4 weeks of complete data, while total COVID-19 cases have increased 150%. • Idaho vaccination average per day is increasing.

State of Oregon Take Home Messages • In Oregon, AI/AN COVID-19 cases have increased 121% over the past 4 weeks of complete data, while total COVID-19 cases have increased 184%. Oregon total cases are at their highest level since the pandemic began in early 2020. • Total emergency department visits in Oregon decreased for the total population, and AI/AN ED visits increased for the last 2 weeks. • AI/AN and total ED visits with a COVID diagnosis have risen sharply over the past 2 weeks. The AI/AN COVID visit rate increased by 168% and the total visit rate increased by 45%. Visits rates for COVID-like illness have followed a similar upward trend. • AI/AN ED visits rates for pneumonia increased for the last two weeks. Pneumonia ED visit rates for the total population increased by 20% over the past two weeks. • ED visit rates for influenza-like illness in the total population appear to be increasing over time and increased for AI/AN last week. • ED visit rates for suspected vaccine adverse events remain low for the AI/AN population; there have been

Washington State Take Home Message • In Washington, AI/AN COVID-19 cases have increased 237% over the past 4 weeks of complete data, while total COVID-19 cases have increased 235%. • Total health care visits in Washington have decreased slightly last week for both AI/AN and the total state population. • AI/AN and total health care visits with a COVID diagnosis have decreased over the past 2 weeks, though still higher than that of one month ago. Compared to 2 weeks ago, the AI/AN COVID visit rate decreased by 5% and the total visit rate increased by 25%.Visits rates for COVID-like illness have followed a similar upward trend. • Healthcare visit rates for pneumonia or influenza-like illness have not changed much for AI/AN for the total population since two weeks ago. • Healthcare visit rates for suspected vaccine adverse events remain low for the AI/AN population; there have been
