It was introduced at the end of June and by the end of July 80% of the playing ladies returned their scores through this system. This number is increasing steadily and many thanks to Tricia for helping the “less techie” lady members to use the system. Well done all, as this is of great assistance to the Competitions Committee in compiling the results in these days of restrictions. UPDATES FROM THE COURSE Course Development day A big “Thank You” to everyone who supported our Course Development Day in late August. Despite all the Covid restrictions, including a county lockdown the night before, the day was a great success. I am delighted to say that over €3,000 was raised. This money will go towards upgrade works to the 11th tee box which we have planned for this winter. Congratulations to the 5 teams in the winning enclosure and also to the two “skilful” golfers, John Benton (12th) and Gerry Doyle (15th), who recorded a Hole in One on the day. The early birds who caught the worm - the winning team about to tee off first Volunteers Another big thank you to the course volunteers who did tremendous work over the past few months. I enjoyed the “craic” with you all. Some of you may have noticed the “new wall” discovered by the volunteers in the ditch to the right of the 10th green last August. John Forde, Billy Devaney, Willie Buckley & Gerry O’Toole. Sanding of fairways A special thank you to the Ladies section for giving up the course on the 29th September to allow for the sanding of fairways. Again, due to Covid, this had to be arranged at short notice and subject to availability of the contractor. Almost 600 tons of sand was spread during ideal weather conditions, essential work and an investment for the future.
