With a large stock and wide variety, you can find juices, spices, dry food, canned food, bread, sauces/spreads, and a few microwavable items. If you don’t feel like almost everything you need here, including spices, American brand goods, frozen food products, and household cooking or forgot an item from one of the larger grocery stores, a stop to the Asian market is perfect. CAMPUS TOURS CAMPUS SECURITY Explore the AUC campus and our surrounding Cupecoy community by joining a student-led tour. AUC is committed to providing a secure and crime-free campus environment. Security awareness is an important part of our culture at AUC we and encourage all students, faculty, and staff to accept responsibility for their own safety as well as the safety of others. Colin Michie, FRCPCH Hazarie Ramoutar, FCCA, MBA Associate Dean of Academic Affairs Senior Administrator of Campus Operations cmichie@aucmed.edu hramoutar@aucmed.edu Dr. Colin Michie joined AUC’s campus in St. Maarten in September of 2017 as Associate Dean of Hazarie Ramoutar joined the AUC team in May 2017 as the Senior Administrator for Campus Operations Academic Affairs. Dr. Michie oversees students’ learning outcomes and works with the Senior Associate at the Sint Maarten campus. He is a member of AUC’s Executive Leadership Council and the Sint Dean of Academic and Student Affairs to develop programs and initiatives that enhance students’ Maarten Campus Leadership Team. He is passionate about building on AUC’s tradition of delivering academic experiences both inside and outside of the classroom. His office advises students on academic practices and scheduling, and supports the direction of AUC’s orientation and dean’s list programs. an outstanding student experience and success. Mr. Ramoutar has been with Adtalem Global Education (ATGE) since 2008 when he joined Ross L. Scott Rinker, PhD University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) as the Campus Administrator, and then later on as the Director of the Student Experience. Assistant Dean of Student Affairs Mr. Ramoutar has over 25 years’ experience in accounting and operations having lived and worked in srinker@aucmed.edu his home country of Trinidad and Tobago as well as St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia and now Sint Maarten. He received his BSc degree in management from the University of the West Indies (UWI) in Trinidad, an MBA Dr. Scott Rinker is Campus Dean of Student Affairs, providing leadership over resources for students from the University of Bradford, and he is also a Fellow of the Association of the Chartered Certified from first foot on campus until transition into clinicals. He is responsible for numerous campus and Accountants (FCCA). student experience programs and committees, including MSAS (medical sciences academic support board), recreational sports, student government, student judicial council, student conduct and professionalism, CARE, new student orientation, White Coat ceremony, and various student clubs and organizations. Prior to working at AUC, Dr. Rinker worked at Houston Community College, a comprehensive community college that serves over 70,000 students across 23 campuses with a service area of 631.3 square miles. Teri Boese, DNP, RN He worked as the system-wide student affairs officer, leading and managing disability support services, student conduct reporting and compliance, Title IX processes, and international student advising. Associate Professor & Simulation Operations Manager Dr. Rinker is interested in the academic and personal success of students at AUC as well as promoting organizational change that makes those aspirations a reality. He is the father of two beautiful children and husband to a lovely mother, researcher, and public health educator. He holds a BS from Texas A&M Dr. Teri Boese graduated from the University of Iowa with a BSN, from the University of Minnesota with an University, an MA from the University of Houston – Clear Lake, and a PhD from Texas A&M University. MSN, and from Rush University with a DNP. Most of her academic career has been spent at the University of Iowa College of Nursing where she became the co-director of the Nursing Clinical Education Center in The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She is an internationally recognized expert in healthcare simulation, establishing the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning in the Golden Jackson, PhD late 1990s. Dr. Boese continues to be an active member of the team developing the Simulation Standards of Best Practice. Assistant Dean for Community Engagement | Associate Professor, Social Sciences gjackson@aucmed.edu Dr. Golden Jackson is Assistant Dean for Community Engagement at the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. In that role, she works with St. Maarten government, community groups, students and faculty to support design and implementation of projects that contribute to community priorities and to student learning. She provides leadership for two all-AUC events each semester, Community Action Day and Project H.E.L.P. Community Action Day is a day set aside for AUC students, faculty, staff, and family to engage with community partners in projects related to health and well-being, education, and child development. Project H.E.L.P. (Health, Education, Literacy, Prevention) is a health screening and educational program offered in community settings throughout St. Maarten. Before joining AUC in 2012, she held faculty and administrative appointments at The Ohio State University. She taught courses in housing policy, ecological effects of consumption patterns, women’s workplace issues, and community development and directed the Service-Learning Initiative, providing support for development of service-learning courses in the 17 colleges of the university. Dr. Jackson earned degrees from Mississippi University for Women (BS), University of North Carolina at Greensboro (MS), and The Ohio State University (PhD). 16 17

With a wide variety of interests and backgrounds, our students foster a vibrant One of the biggest decisions a medical student will have to make is what kind of physician they want to be. Our specialty campus community that is both active and inclusive. Our more than 25 clubs and organizations allow students to connect with interest groups or “SIGs” help students explore various medical specialties and career paths early in their education and one another and develop unique learning opportunities while progressing through medical school.
