WHAT’S NEW! The last year has definitely brought some “new” to Ruidoso and all around the world. We have a few fun things to share as well as some guidelines to follow as you plan your trip to see us. RUIDOSO WINTER PARK HAS NEW ATTRACTIONS! Screaming Eagle and Ruidoso Winter Park bring new attractions this Summer and Fall! Screaming Eagle (also known as Ruidoso Winter Park in the winter months) is excited to introduce the only Summer Tubing hill in Southern New Mexico! Join Screaming Eagle for an awesome day of family fun on their state-of-the-art tubing hill. No need to spend all day walking uphill. Riders can take advantage of their convenient Magic Carpet Lifts before enjoying a thrilling tube ride down the hill. While you are there take a ride on their popular family zipline! At 30 feet tall and 300 feet long, the zipline is the perfect size for anyone ages 4-84! Screaming Eagle Mountain Coaster is coming Fall of 2021! They are excited to offer the ONLY Mountain Coaster in New Mexico. Screaming Eagle Mountain Coaster will stretch 5,000 linear feet and descend 300 vertical feet while following winding dips, waves, and a 360-degree helix. If you enjoy quilting, creating, knitting, crocheting, and other crafty hobbies and want to make a weekend retreat of it with other people who enjoy these hobbies Stitch N Pines Retreat Center is a one-of-a-kind getaway for you. The retreat center is owned by locals, Jackie and Eugene Hunter, that own A Quilting Stituation. They did not miss a detail when creating this space. The lodge has its own creative center with stations set up for crafting and visiting with friends, as well as 2 huge decks to relax and knit in nature. The craft room also has an Accuquilt station and scissor sharpener and a certified Janome Technician on the premises! ALL AMERICAN COWBOY FEST “LET’S TRY THIS AGAIN!” Ruidoso Downs Race Track & Casino will host the All American CowboyFest Sept 30 - Oct 3, celebrating food, music, and lifestyle of the American Cowboy. The festival was re-branded for 2020, but was later canceled because of the pandemic. Formerly known as the Lincoln County Cowboy Symposium, the event includes an all-new Rodeo featuring bull riding, ranch bronc and saddle bronc competitions on the race track Saturday, October 2 from 2-4 pm. Red Dirt pioneer Kevin Fowler will appear on Thursday evening, September 30, Texas country music star Aaron Watson on Friday evening, October 1, along with a performance from Cowboy Symposium staple Dave Alexander accompanied by a dance on Saturday evening, October 2. Another new element of the weekend includes the Miss Rodeo New Mexico pageant, which brings together a number of contestants competing for college scholarships and a chance to represent our state in the national competition in Las Vegas, Nevada. The All American Cowboy Fest will include the nation’s top authentic chuckwagon cooking competition, mounted shooting demonstrations, horse training seminars, more than 100 western- style vendors, and a petting zoo.
