PRODUCTS & SOLUTIONS The trend towards individualisation also brings with it increasing demands from customers who are looking for design options in the bathroom that are as diverse as possible. These are often nuances that have to be per- fectly coordinated. Actuator plates in new, trendy metal colours can make a small yet significant difference here. From 1 April, there will be a new range of high-quality materials available for the popular Sigma50 and recently launched Sigma21, meaning a wealth of possibilities for combining the look of the plates and buttons. Looking for the right design for your own dream bathroom will now become a voyage of discovery. THE RIGHT TONE The actuator plate gets its unmistakeable look through the selec- tion of the curved flush buttons (on the Sigma50) or the charac- teristic rings (Sigma21). The popular metal colours red gold, brass and black chrome are new additions here and blend in perfectly ↑ with a range of bathroom environments. FROM NATURAL TO INDUSTRIAL With versions in concrete, slate and walnut, the range of new plate materials covers all the bases. You don’t need to be a fan of shabby chic or have your own loft to choose the concrete ver- sion – the light grey shade is the perfect match for many walls and tiles. The same applies to the natural materials Mustang Slate (Brazilian slate) and walnut, whose unique veins – each plate is one of a kind – appear rugged or earthy and warm, respectively. Incidentally, did you know that our actuator plates can also be combined with the Geberit DuoFresh odour extraction module? This ensures freshness in the bathroom at all times and also comes with a night-time orientation light and an insert for in- cistern sticks. 9
DIGITALISATION With the new Geberit BIM Catalogue Plug-in for Autodesk® Revit®, sanitary engineers have the possibility of accessing the latest planning con- tent from Geberit at any time. This Plug-in pro- vides the data in your language and in line with the local product range. Building Information Modelling – or BIM for short – is the new planning and construction standard in the construction industry. The biggest challenge faced by sanitary engineers here is receiving up-to-date, er- ror-free and complete planning content from the man- ufacturers at all times. “With the Geberit BIM Catalogue for Autodesk® Revit®, the sanitary engineer can directly access the BIM content for Geberit piping and installation systems,” says Werner Trefzer, Head of Technical Documenta- tion and BIM Manager. “Using the Geberit BIM Cata- logue Plug-in, the sanitary engineer also has constant access to the current BIM content in the correspond- ing language for the available product range in the respective market. This dispenses with the time-con- suming search for BIM content on external platforms.” LIMITING THE AMOUNTS OF DATA One of the biggest obstacles is that the hardware and AVAILABILITY software systems required for digital planning are After registration is complete, pushed to their absolute limit by excessive amounts Revit® data is available for of data, especially in major projects. PRODUCTS & SOLUTIONS GEBERIT PLUVIA SUPPORT SET ADDED STABILITY The Pluvia support set is now on hand to increase the stability of the Geberit Pluvia roof drainage system. The support set significantly reduces the lateral oscillation of the pipes, which can occur if the water is discharged through the pipes at high speed. 14 Know-how March 2020
PRODUCTS & SOLUTIONS IDEAL SOFTWARE SUPPORT Geberit’s tailor-made ProPlanner software supports building owners, architects, engineers and sanitary engineers with the planning and calculation of Pluvia roof drainage systems. In order to offer users even better support, Geberit has been using artifi- cial intelligence for dimensioning for some time now. This makes the planning process quicker and easier. For further details, please feel free to contact us. LESS OSCILLATION The Pluvia fastening system is a reliable solution for pipe sections laid under the roof. It reduces the load on the building structure resulting from thermally induced linear expansion of the PE pipes and is thus ideal for lightweight roofs. The fastening system has now been optimised with the addition of the new Pluvia support set. In terms of installing, almost everything remains as before. The only change is the addition of the new support set for increasing the stability of horizontal pipes, which will be available from April 2020. When installed correctly, the supports significantly reduce the lateral oscillation and swinging of the pipes, which can occur if the water is discharged through the pipes at high speed. The tried-and-tested tension wedges are used when the Geberit Pluvia support set is installed, meaning the supports can be mounted to the support rails quickly and easily. Last but not least, the support set can even be retrofitted for achieving added sta- bility on existing Pluvia roof drainage systems without any issues. BUILDING SITE REPORT SUPERTUBE TECHNOLOGY PREMIERE IN PUNE An ever increasing number of high-rise buildings are being added to the skylines of Indian cities. This is also the case in Pune, where the Gateway Towers 100 building is being built. The Gateway Towers 100 is the first high-rise build- ing in the world to be equipped with Geberit SuperTube technology. Standing at a height of 150 metres, the Gateway Towers 100 soars above all other high-rise build- ings in the surrounding area. 18

BUILDING SITE REPORT MISSION ACCOMPLISHED It is no secret that the drainage of high-rise buildings is more complex than the drainage in a single-family house, and it has to withstand much higher volumes. It also needs to be planned and implemented well. “Because of its special architecture and the layout of the differently sized residential units, there were sev- eral vertical stacks and horizontal offsets,” explained Michael Allenspach, Head of Technical Services at Geberit India. “Thanks to SuperTube, we were able to offer the building owner a solution that is reliable and also saves space.” The optimisation of space in the pipe duct was not the drainage system’s only compel- ling benefit in the eyes of the building owner, not by a long shot. Material and installation costs were also able to be significantly reduced due to the fact that a ventilation pipe was not required. SUPPORT ON THE CONSTRUCTION SITE The plumbers on the construction site were able to ↑ count on the full support of Geberit. “It was important Prefabricated sections of the discharge stack to us that the plumbers were able to work accurately are inserted into the pipe duct. in order to ensure that there would be no nasty sur- prises in the future when the system becomes oper- ational. This is why we made sure that they received the appropriate training,” explained Michael Allens- pach. While on-site, Allenspach and his colleagues showed the plumbers the right way to process the PE pipes, had them weld the pipes together and then checked the weld seams. The first of the five high-rise buildings is scheduled to be completed in the course of the year. Once completed, SuperTube will then be put to work. A SUPER ALTERNATIVE SuperTube technology is a newly developed alternative to the conventional drainage sys- tem design in high-rise buildings. Due to the hydraulic optimisation of the system, which includes the Sovent fitting for connecting a floor to the stack and two asymmetrical bended pipe sections, the traditional ventila- tion pipe is no longer needed. As a result, a great deal of space is saved in the pipe duct. Thanks to the Sovent fitting, ventilation pipes in the vertical stack were already a thing of the past. However, in the case of ver- tical offset, which generally requires a hori- zontal pipe section, an additional ventilation pipe was still required due to the pressure conditions in the pipe. The two newly devel- oped bends – BackFlip and BottomTurn – eliminate the unresolved problem in the ver- tical offset. Their hydraulically optimised design ensures that the air column in a stack is maintained even when there is a change in direction of 90°. ↑ The individual pipe sections are welded together directly at the construction site. 20 Know-how March 2020
