INTEGRATED SOLUTION EXETER BUS DEPOT STAGECOACH Stagecoach have expressed their support for park and rides as a sustainable way forward for most UK cities. Working with Stagecoach and Exeter City Council, Montagu Evans advised on the relocation of the company’s city centre bus depot to Matford Park, freeing up a 1.43 acre site next to the proposed £70 million Princesshay extension. The sale of the remainder of the city centre lease and subsequent long leasehold purchase of the new depot site enabled Stagecoach to secure its long-term future in the town. We worked with Stagecoach to acquire a six-acre site close to their main bus routes. The depot occupies two-acres and the remaining four-acres is used to park the buses overnight. This space is used as a park and ride throughout the day, generating additional income. The new development is the first in the country to combine a bus depot with park and ride facilities which has significant environmental and economic benefits. We then identified Stagecoach’s former city centre site as a potential student housing location, introducing proposals for a 588-bed development with retail space in line with the Council’s brief for retail and leisure-led regeneration in the city centre. We secured planning consent in late 2016, with construction on site underway and expected to complete in time for the 2019 academic year. Over the last three years we have sold nine inefficient depots and acquired new assets that were fully funded “WE WERE DELIGHTED TO WORK IN PARTNERSHIP WITH MONTAGU EVANS AND EXETER CITY COUNCIL ON THIS PROJECT. from the sales. GOOLE, AREA 36 SIEMENS MOBILITY Montagu Evans was instructed by Siemens Mobility to advise on and secure planning permission for the construction of a train manufacturing facility in Goole, East Riding to expand upon Siemens’ existing rail operations in the UK, including the manufacture of new trains to service the Piccadilly Line. Siemens’ proposals comprised development of up to 85,000 sq m of manufacturing and commissioning buildings, warehouses and offices, together with stabling sidings, a 1 km test track and other associated landscaping and infrastructure, and a link to the existing rail network.
