from the principal... Jacqui van Ruiten Principal I welcome new and existing families to the Norwood Morialta High School. Norwood Morialta High School is a vibrant, progressive learning community attracting approximately 1500 students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. We are unique in that we have a separate specialist middle school and senior school campus, catering for the differences in adolescent development and promoting our ethos of excellence. Our vision is for every student to graduate as an engaged global citizen to meet the challenges of a changing world. This commitment is underpinned by our core values of Distinction, Diversity and Respect and shaped by our focus of high standards, student well-being and internationalism. On the Middle Campus our Year 8-10 learners engage in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (IBMYP) and undertake a range of subjects that support individual interests and specialised learning. Our emphasis is to prepare our middle years learners to be thoughtful global citizens who care about each other, are knowledgeable, principled, reflective, creative and open minded. These learning opportunities are extended beyond the classroom where students are also encouraged to join co-curricular activities, including leadership programs, lunch-time clubs, Rowing, Pedal Prix, bands and ensembles, Debating, Mock Trials, the biennial Musical, annual Film Festival and a wide range of sports. There are many exciting features to our school and I invite you to browse the information in this booklet and on our website to investigate the learning journeys undertaken by our students. We look forward to working in partnership with you and your student in 2019. 3
