Contributors Leona Baker is our editor, a creative, communications professional, food freak, news junkie, nature lover and mom living in Virginia Beach. She previously served as Senior Editor at Port Folio Weekly, Director of Marketing and Communications at Virginia Wesleyan University and Senior Copywriter at Spark451, a marketing agency specializing in higher education. Barrett Baker is creative content director at Raoust+Partners and Senior writer/editor at 2BCreative, providing freelance copywriting and editing services to local magazines and marketing agencies. Chelsea Sherman, is a brand copywriter and a contributing writer for Coastal Virginia Magazine. Chelsea writes articles that center the experiences of CoVa locals and examine important issues affecting the region. She lives in Virginia Beach with her husband Jake and their three children. Betsy DiJulio, MA, EdS, is a full-time, award-winning National Board-Certified high school art teacher and part-time artist, cookbook author, blogger and published writer on topics of art and education, home and garden design, food/vegan food, eco-issues, artisanal businesses and day hiking. Marisa Marsey is a food, beverage and travel writer whose awards include “1st place Food Writing” from the Virginia Press Association. A Johnson & Wales University representative, she has sipped Château d’Yquem ‘75 with Jean-Louis Palladin, sherpa-ed for Edna Lewis and savored interviews with Wolfgang Puck and Patrick O’Connell. Tom Robotham, a native of New York City, is a freelance writer and professor of mass media studies at Old Dominion University. He has written numerous features and columns for Coastal Virginia Magazine, including the year-long series “Searching for God in the 7 Cities.” He is also the author of six books, and co-author of a book about the Bible with Charlton Heston. Eric J. Wallace is a writer, avid lover of the outdoors and devotee to the ongoing search for the Good Life. His work has appeared in more than 50 noteworthy publications, including Outside, Backpacker, Canoe & Kayak, Grit, WIRED, Atlas Obscura, Modern Farmer and more.
