Founded in 1826 by August Leopold Crelle and edited by him until his death in 1855, it soon became widely known under the name of Crelle’s Journal. In the 190 years of its existence, Crelle’s Journal has developed to an outstanding scholarly periodical with one of the worldwide largest circulations among mathematics journals. It belongs to the very top mathe- matics periodicals, as listed in ISI’s Journal Citation Report. Managing Editor Rainer Weissauer, Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg, Germany. Editors Tobias H. Colding, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, USA; Daniel Huybrechts, Universität Bonn, Germany; Jun-Muk Hwang, Korea Institute for Advanced Study, Seoul, Republic of Korea; Geordie Williamson, University of Sydney, Australia.
Dear Readers, MATHEMATICS MATHEMATIK It is our pleasure to present to you our mathematics program of books and journals for 2020. 3 In the following pages, you can find our forthcoming monographs in pure and applied mathematics and in mathematical physics as well as our new textbooks. PHYSICS Included is also a selection of mathematical journals, like our flagship Journal für PHYSIK die reine und angewandte Mathematik (Crelle’s Journal) or Forum Mathematicum 20 as well as other successful journals such as Advances in Nonlinear Analysis and Computational Methods in Applied Mathematics. JOURNALS AND YEARBOOKS We believe that the selection of topics you will find in this year’s catalog is broad ZEITSCHRIFTEN UND JAHRBÜCHER enough to cover all aspects of modern mathematics, and we hope that our books and journals will be of great value to the mathematical community as a whole. The images on our catalogues are the product of a design competition that is carried out each year by De Gruyter in cooperation with Lette Verein Berlin, a vocational training association. Participants desig- ned a series of images that visually interpret the topic “impulse”. We would like to thank the Jonas Leue for his winning entry. His images show various snapshots of light and sparks, representing the impulse that scholarly literature provides to support progress in society. www.letteverein.berlin *Preise in US$ nur für Bestellungen aus Nord- und Südamerika. DE GRUYTER STUDIES IN MATHEMATICS Edited by Carsten Carstensen, Gavril Farkas, Nicola Fusco, Fritz Gesztesy, Niels Jacob, Zenghu Li, Karl-Hermann Neeb The series is devoted to the publication of monographs and high-level textbooks in mathe- matics, mathematical methods and their applications. Apart from covering important areas of current interest, a major aim is to make topics of an interdisciplinary nature accessible to the non-specialist. The works in this series are addressed to advanced students and researchers in mathematics and theoretical physics. In addition, it can serve as a guide for lectures and semi- nars on a graduate level. The series De Gruyter Studies in Mathematics was founded ca. 35 years ago by the late Profes- sor Heinz Bauer and Professor Peter Gabriel with the aim to establish a series of monographs and textbooks of high standard, written by scholars with an international reputation presenting current fields of research in pure and applied mathematics. While the editorial board of the Studies has changed with the years, the aspirations of the Studies are unchanged. In times of rapid growth of mathematical knowledge carefully written monographs and textbooks written by experts are needed more than ever, not least to pave the way for the next generation of mathematicians. In this sense the editorial board and the publisher of the Studies are devoted to continue the Studies as a service to the mathematical community.
