LOCSU Regular Support for LOCs LOCSU support is at local (LOCs), regional (regional forums), and national (engagement, representation, case-building) levels, and everywhere in between
A Year of COVID-19: LOCSU Support • CUES: LOCSU led pathway to enable practices to deliver urgent eyecare during the pandemic. • PPE: LOCSU initiative with Primary Eyecare Services to provide PPE at cost to sector during worldwide shortages. • NHSmail: Worked with NHS to secure NHSmail accounts for sector. • PCSE: Supporting contractors and LOCs with payment and other PCSE issues including treasurer meetings. • Remote meetings: Supporting LOCs and regional LOC forums with the move to remote meetings. • Online NOC: Transitioned the NOC to online event over several days. • Vaccinations: Working with LOCs and NHS to ensure front line staff access vaccinations. • Regular support: Granting levy pause while still delivering support to LOCs. • Engagement: Significant role at senior NHS level during period of unprecedented change. Worked with OFNC to lobby for supporting payments to contractors.

Support for Hampshire LOC • Regular. contact with chair and other members of the committee and business manager as required • Meeting support where requested with the various CCGs and PES regarding matters such as CUES, cataracts and glaucoma. • Facilitation of regular south east forum meetings and oversight of the whatsapp group used for the region • Attendance at LOC meetings • Treasurer support through meetings with other LOC treasurers

National Eye Care Programme aims: Support all systems to implement Eyecare Electronic Referral System Support systems/regions in setting up high volume surgical hubs to improve theatre productivity and reduce the backlog of routine cases, establishing a visible elective PTL, with enough detail to understand resource requirement and risk, so that there can be better co-ordinated support and equity within and between ICSs., ensuring health inequalities are not created as a result of high flow clinics. 8 |
