Cattle, horses, sheep, goats, hogs, poultry, and other domesticated animals are

them for recreational purposes, they work with and for us.

Archery is a fun way for Scouts to exercise minds as well as bodies, developing a

experienced archer, earning the badge can help to increase the understanding and
appreciation of archery.

maintenance is required to keep their vehicles in tip-top shape.

For most of history, people have dreamed of flying, imagining how it would feel to soar
Bill Valbracht through the sky like an eagle or hover in midair like a hummingbird, to float on unseen
currents, free of Earth's constant tug, able to travel great distances and to rise above
any obstacle. Today, through aviation, we can not only join the birds but also fly
farther, faster, and higher than they ever could.

The Cooking merit badge introduces principles of cooking that can be used both at
Mike Odette home or in the outdoors. Scouts who earn this badge will learn about food safety,
nutritional guidelines, meal planning, and methods of food preparation, and will review
the variety of culinary (or cooking) careers available.
Maximum number of participants: 20
Prerequisites: Requirements 4c, 4d, 4e; 5d, 5e, 5g, 5h; and 6d, 6e, 6f must be
completed after MBU so Scout will not finish that day, but they will do some cooking at
the MBU; Requirements 5f and 6g can be explained to the counselor in class after the
menu is created. Bring a calculator, grocery store weekly flyers, and the Cooking merit
badge workbook from www.usscouts.org
LMBU21 9-3:30 PM Crime Prevention, Fingerprinting, Traffic Safety
Preventing crime, which can be as simple as reducing the opportuntities for crime to

In earning the Fingerprinting merit badge, Scouts will learn about and use an important
technique that is used by law enforcement officers, along with other materials like
matching dental records and DNA sampling, to help identify amnesia victims, missing
persons, abducted children, and others.
Staying safe in traffic wherever you live is getting more difficult all the time, as more
and more people take to the road. Earning the Traffic Safety merit badge and will give
Scouts some crucial tools to stay safer, when driving a car on a highway, riding a bike
across town, or jogging across a busy street.

Scouts are often called upon to help because they know first aid and they know about

merit badge helps a Scout to be prepared by learning the actions that can be helpful
and needed before, during, and after an emergency.

First aid - caring for injured or ill persons until they can receive professional medical
Ashley Perrey care - is an important skill for every Scout. With some knowledge of first aid, a Scout
can provide immediate care and help to someone who is hurt or who becomes ill. First
aid can help prevent infection and serious loss of blood. It could even save a limb or a
life.

why this month, the Boy Scouts of America is introducing the Health Care Professions
merit badge, a STEM-focused, career-oriented badge designed to introduce young
people to the roles that health care professionals play in the delivery of health care.

mining, explores the status of mining in the 21st century, introduces Scouts to modern
mining careers, and explores the all-important topic of mining safety.

Personal fitness is an individual effort and desire to be the best one can be. Regardless

Beyond capturing family memories, photography offers a chance to be creative. Many
Jerry Backes photographers use photography to express their creativity, using lighting, composition,
depth, color, and content to make their photographs into more than snapshots. Good
photographs tell us about a person, a news event, a product, a place, a scientific
breakthrough, an endangered animal, or a time in history.

Prerequisites: Requirement 1b (Bring your current, up-to-date Cyber Chip to class); 4
and 5 (Bring a camera to class and we will work on these requirements in class); 7 (Be
prepared to share your visual story with the class. A poster board or electronic
presentation is acceptable. Use only 8-12 images.)

Earning the Robotics merit badge requires a Scout to understand how robots move
Sarah Cramer (actuators), sense the environment (sensors), and understand what to do
(programming); he should demonstrate robot design in building a robot. You should
help ensure that the Scout has sufficiently explored the field of robotics to understand
what it is about, and to discover whether this may be a field of interest for him as a
career.

The process and safety methods of working around specialized teams such as aircraft,
Jeremy Epps canine, and aquatic rescue teams. Identifying differences between search and rescue
environments, such as coastal, wilderness, rural, and urban landscapes. Determining
when Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) and latitude and longitude (Lat/Lon) should
be used.

The new Welding badge and pamphlet was released by BSA, and Scouts could begin
Andrew Eisterhold earning the badge on February 24, 2012.

Prerequisites: Wear Field (Class A) uniform to opening ceremony; bring jeans and
enclosed shoes to change into for class; no shorts or open-toed shoes will be allowed;
need 3 adult leaders.
