Summer Studio
One look at our collection and you'll see that our product designs provide
inspiration for the quieter side of life and a simpler way to live. Interior living
that inspires serenity, tranquility, and balance is at the core of Summer
Studio's philosophy.
From ideation to prototype production, the entire design process evolves
toward producing pieces that achieve simplicity in aesthetics, functional
justification, quality craftsmanship -- and most importantly, uniqueness in
design.
Our work takes a painstaking rigorous approach to ensuring the quality and
craftsmanship of each piece that we produce. No detail is too small or too
insignificant to be overlooked. Every component counts when it comes to our
products.
Each piece is made locally in Southern California. This allows us to be
intimately involved in the production process so that the final result is a piece
of work that accurately reflects our expectations and the expectations of the
customer.
Creative Director – Jack Sasaki
Jack Sasaki’s accomplishments include more than two decades of artistic Los Angeles Showroom
endeavors that first began as a child in Tokyo where he learned to hone his
innate artistic talent. Sasaki went on to further sharpen his skills by securing
a Masters of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA
from UCLA. Following his educational studies, Jack applied his imaginative
and architectural talents into becoming a high-end residential developer and
product designer.
During these years, Jack quickly learned that he possessed an intuitive
talent for highly impactful and unique thematic product designs. Sasaki
utilized his talents as he amassed an additional decade of woodworking
experience and embarked designing and creating unique pieces of
furniture. Jack’s philosophy is grounded in creating intelligent and
progressive pieces of furniture that reside at the intersection between
function and art.

Nord Chair
Folk art charm and contemporary aesthetics coexist harmoniously in
the Nord Chair.
Inspired by a boldly humble antique Swedish folk furniture, the chair’s
line and form are deceptively simple. The mindful attention to the grain
of the wood adds striking beauty, which is most evident on three
symbolic back plates. A carefully curved back rail and contoured seat
provide exceptional comfort, while the slightly tapered legs without
stretchers add contemporary and robust expression to the chair.

ALPINE STOOL
Descended from rustic European Milking Stool, Alpine Stool is the
simple interpretative result of a careful volumetric study of turned wood
components. The three-legged stool delivers a highly sturdy, T-shape
stretcher base construction that forms extremely strong joints, while
remarkably defying traditional wood construction. The comfortably
contoured seat is made of quarter-sawn lumbers. The piece’s
understated elegance makes it a perfect multi-use companion in the
living room, bedroom or bathroom or any room of the house.

Our Woven Bow Back Chair is a modern and unusual twist on a
perennial design favorite. Elegantly upgraded to take advantage of the
finest woods, our CNC precision milling process reveals exquisite wood
grain that sets the piece into a class of its own. The chair’s design is
enhanced with the addition of woven webbing that is made from
Danish Cotton Flag Halyard, a remarkably strong element that will not
stretch over time. The chair is is accented with copper fittings.

Beauty, warmth and comfort come together in Curve Counter Stool. The
base is made of beautifully turned hard wood assembled in a robust
proportion. The generously wide seat is also carved from solid hard
wood with ergonomic contour. For additional comfort, the curved top
pad is made with extra high density foam, upholstered with genuine
European leather.

ISE BATH STOOL
Developed in collaboration with COMMUNE DESIGN , the Ise Stool is an
interpretation of Japanese Hinoki stools, adopted to the contemporary
western life style. Made of majestic Alaskan Yellow Cedar, used in the
making of boats and totem poles by Native Americans, the stool reveals
a warm creamy color and a beautiful tight grain. The wood's decay
resistance makes this stool perfect for places with high moisture, such
as bathrooms, showers and saunas. The design is strikingly minimal yet
robust. All the edges are rounded to a small radius, giving the stool a
softer presence. This product is flat-packed for a smaller carbon
footprint and does requires some easy assembly.

SERVING BOARD
Crafted in LA, our Serving Boards offer both functionality and beauty in
equal measure. Carved out of single piece of solid white oak, the
board’s handle is carefully tapered for a firm hold, and an elongated
key hole ensures easy hanging. While designed as a harmonious trio,
each board stands beautifully on its own. Whether for cheese,
charcuterie, or just sitting in your kitchen, this two sided serving board
presents an elegant and eye-catching addition to any kitchen.
Available in three sizes and two food-safe finishes: oil finish to reveal
beautiful wood grain and striking no-pigment deep black.

MOKUME COAT RACK
Mokume, Japanese term for beautiful wood grain, is the design theme
of this gorgeous and very functional coat rack. 6 disc-shaped coat
hooks in generous 4" diameter are made of solid white oak with gently
rounded surface revealing beautiful vertical grain. The base, also made
of straight grain solid white oak, is the attractive backdrop and works
as a small shelf to display artworks.
Mokume Coat Rack will make an elegant statement and warm welcome
to the guests.
