Spirit of place
‘Spirit of place’ is a document that forms the core of each of our properties, representing
their own unique themes, all responses to this brief should incorporate this.
Our Spirit of place:
Drawing in, emanating out;
a sanctuary for the soul.
Remote, dramatic and constantly evolving; Whether seeking peace and enlightenment like
Lindisfarne has its own tidal rhythm - the Priory’s founding monks – or swapping the
drawing people in; emanating knowledge, stresses of modern life for solitude and beauty
inspiration and memories. Despite its a la Hudson – visitors today find their own
isolation Lindisfarne reaches far beyond its spiritual refreshment. As the tide rolls in – and

Cuthbert, Oswald and Aiden to Hudson’s upturned boats, and iconic castle silhouetted
popularisation of the second home by the against the wide horizons of the North Sea -
sea; each brushstroke, camera click, sharp while skylarks sing and seals bob – for many
intake of breath – each treasured memory of people, in many different ways, Lindisfarne
time spent with loved ones. offers sanctuary for the soul.
