Psychologist - Basic Grade Part - Time Based in St Hilda's Athlone Overall Purpose of the post: Provide a psychology service to meet the identified and emerging needs of service users who are supported by Hilda's Services. The focus of this position is behaviour support. St Hilda's Services is seeking to appoint a Psychologist who will be responsible for the following: Provision of psychological assessment, intervention to service users as appropriate. This includes supports to our service users with intellectual disabilities presenting with a diversity of needs including Autism, mental health difficulties, behaviours that are described as challenging, personal and family relationships issues, dementia and problems associated with aging, issues in relation to the development of individualised service arrangements. Engage in functional assessment of behaviour and collaborate in the development of behaviour management plans. Management of the behaviour support service, including day-to-day management of the staff team together with provision of professional and clinical supervision. Develop and implement training initiatives for parents/staff in response to identified need. Provide assessment relating to the adaptive functioning, intellectual functioning and emotional wellbeing of service users. Develop therapeutic interventions drawing upon concepts and techniques within various therapeutic frameworks. Work with our service users and their family to implement the therapeutic interventions. Manage confidential data and client information. Attend and participate in regular team and other meetings. Engage effectively with outside agencies and advocate for the service users attending the service. The ideal candidate will: Have a University degree or Diploma (QQI Level 8 equivalent) obtained with 1st and 2nd class honours in which Psychology was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject. And have an Irish post graduate professional psychology or an equivalent qualification in Educational or Psychology or equivalent from another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health. Demonstrate competence in working with adults with intellectual disabilities - either at least 60 days or equivalent post qualification supervised worked experience as a psychologist. Must be eligible to work in Ireland. Excellent communication skills - oral and written. Full Clean Licence - access to own vehicle.
