Panellists Tomás O Ruairc Tomás started his career teaching Irish and History at Athlone Community College. He was head of the Irish Department in Froebel College of Education from 2000 for five years and Education Programme Manager at Foras na Gaeilge before becoming Deputy CEO in 2007. He held the post of chair of Meitheal Chinnireachta (Leadership Forum) and of the Network for the Promotion of Linguistic Diversity and sat on the Council of the NCCA from 2006-2009. In 2009, Tomás became a Director in the Department of Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht before taking on his current role as Director of the Teaching Council in 2012. Cillian Doyle Having completed the Transition Year programme last year, Cillian is currently a 5th Year student in Wexford CBS. He is also the Secretary of the Student’s Council, Head PRO of Wexford Comhairle na nÓg and is actively involved in other school and community-based organisations such as the Young St. Vincent de Paul and the GAA.
Panellists Jennifer Cherry Jennifer is a parent of three school age children. Cal (7) and Finley (11) are both primary school students and Faye (13) is in her 1st year of secondary school. Jennifer is an active member of the Parents’ Association at St. Francis Xavier NS in Dublin 15. Jennifer is also an ATP lead at St Francis Xavier’s Junior school and a board member of their senior school. Jennifer is married to Patrick and is currently a stay-at-home parent having previously worked as a designer in the clothing industry. Linda Rogers Linda Rogers is a Secondary School Behaviour for Learning teacher in Ramsgrange Community School. She started her teaching career in Kuwait, where she worked for 5 years. She then taught in Seoul, South Korea for 4 years and moved back to Ireland in 2001. She has served in different roles as an API and APII in Ramsgrange, as a Year Head for 10 years, and more recently as the DEIS Plan coordinator.
Panellists Rachel O’ Connor Rachel O’ Connor is the Principal of Ramsgrange Community School in Co. Wexford since 2013 and was recently elected as the Vice-President of the NAPD. She has worked as a whole- school associate for the JCT and is currently a leadership associate for the PDST delivering on the Misneach and Comhar programmes, and a mentor for the Centre for School Leadership. Stephen Gammell Stephen is Team Leader for Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, T4 and TY with the Professional Development Service for Teachers. Stephen is seconded from Scoil Chonglais, Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow where he teaches Mathematics, Physics and Science.
