This presentation will introduce you to.. Ø Lærdansk and Lærdansk Aarhus; who are we and what do we offer ? Ø the importance of learning the Danish language and culture when living and working in Denmark Ø the law on which the Danish language system is based Ø language learning acquisition Ø some good advice on how to learn Danish
Thanks for being here! Denmarks needs you for at least 2 reasons: Ø The demographic situation Ø Enrich the culture, and increase the competetiveness at the internat. market (National, regional, local and AU strategy with focus on recruiting and retaining foreign employees)
Lærdansk is a part of Danish Refugee Council Vision and Values No refugee must be without help to find protection and durable solutions. And nobody who wishes to be integrated into Danish society must be without help to do so. We want to be the best problem-solver with regards to displacement and integration.

How to get started Get a referral from Jobcenter Aarhus by: Ø Going there: Værkmestergade 3-5, 1. sal Ø Filling in a form and mailing it to: jobcenter@aarhus.dk (Att. Job og Integration, Team 4) Ø Contacting the Jobcenter at ICS, Nordhavnsgade, Thursdays 1 pm. to 5 pm.Fridays 9 am. to 1 pm. Ø

Good advice on Learning Danish
Help yourself Ø Use the language whenever..! Ø Do not be shy- you learn from your mistakes! Ø Insist on people talking Danish to you! Ø Make agreements on when to speak Danish (with spouse maybe 1 hour every 2. day)! Ø Listen to Danish TV! Ø Listen on the bus! Ø Be aware of signs , fx at the supermarket! Ø Read free newspapers! Ø Write down new words, expressions! (Take it to class and ask teacher…) Ø Use post-it! Ø Use free sites on Internet Ø Get a mentor! Ø Takes notes and reflect about your progress!
