RATIONALE I.D.M.A. - International Disaster Medicine Association The International Association of Disaster Medicine (IDMA) is an entity with a strong educational and training vocation. The Association originates in 2013 from the SIUC Association (Italian Society of Surgical Urgencies), established in Naples by Dr. Giuseppe Noschese and operating since 1998. The concept of Military Civil Cooperation in medical support represents IDMA's 'core business'. In fact, the cooperation between military FORCES and civilians has become a priority both for the management of natural disasters (hurricanes, storms, earthquakes) and for man-made disasters in civil (industrial disasters) or military (wars, crisis, terrorist acts) field. Joint and combined medical and civil activities are aimed at improving performances in case of disasters, in order to guarantee the best health organization and the best medical treatment possible in case of natural or human-made disasters. To achieve this goal, IDMA is able to provide an open forum discussion, exchange of opinions, educational programs and training focused on improving the planning, training and execution of medical support in case of disasters. Collaboration with other organizations, agencies, voluntary associations etc. represents a crucial moment for IDMA in order to achieve the objective of optimizing the outcomes in the case of Natural or mane-made Disaster. IDMA autonomously manages the following courses: 1. First aid course 2. Course of Safety in the use of personal protective equipment 3. Course of Security in Offices 4. Course against Stress Related Work 5. Course of Security and Sensitive Data Management 6. Course of Safety in the use of explosive materials. IDMA also proposes the following courses: 1. Hazard identification and risk assessment 2. What to do when a disaster occurs 3. Communication in the disaster 4. Action of Intelligence and Medical Intelligence in case of disastrous events Any useful information and details on the activity of IDMA can be easily acquired from the dedicated website: www.idma.it
