Location Summary
Moncks Corner is a town in and the county seat of Berkeley County in east central
South Carolina. As of the 2010 census, the population was 7,885, representing
a 32.5% increase from 2000 and continuing a trend of population growth every
decade since record keeping began in 1890.

Named for original landowner, Thomas Monck, the town is known for its old-
fashioned hospitality, southern charm and history, as well as its proximity to
Charleston, Lake Moultrie and the Francis Marion National Forest.

Moncks Corner was granted the trademark “Capital of Santee Cooper Country” by
the South Carolina Secretary of State on September 9, 1999, and again on October        Charleston, SC
