Abstract Introduction: Constipation is described as having fewer than three bowel movements a week. In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), constipation is considered Blood deficiency with Heat Retention. Purpose: To demonstrate that constipation has energies alterations as the root and correcting these imbalances it is the goal in the patient’s recovery. Methods: Two case reports: the first of an eight-years-old girl complaining of not having bowel movement for more than a week for three years. She was being seen by a surgical pediatrician and he was thinking about having a colostomy. The mother of the patient sought for a TCM treatment, where the patient was diagnosed with Blood, Yin and Yang deficiencies. The second case study: 42-year-old woman with a history of excessive menstruation, fatigue, low libido and with a twice a week bowel movement. Her diagnose in TCM was Yin, Yang, Qi and Blood deficiencies and Heat retention. Both patients received Chinese dietary counselling, auricular acupuncture associated with apex-ear bloodletting, systemic acupuncture and chakras’ energies measurement by radiesthesia. Both patient’s results were 1 out of 8, except for the seventh chakra (normal). The patients were medicated with crystal-based medication and homeopathy according to the Constitutional Homeopathy of the Five Elements based on TCM, created by the author. Results: Both patients had great improvement of the bowel movement (once a day), as well as an overall improvement of all symptoms, after TCM prescribed treatment. Conclusion: Constipation has an energy alteration as root and treating these energies imbalances and chakras’ energies deficiencies is essential for recover of all symptoms altogether. This article was written based on Hippocrates quotes that said that it is important to consider other ancient medical traditions prior to the knowledge we have nowadays and for this reason the author choose to develop this publication using traditional Chinese med- icine reasoning, together with what we have nowadays in Western medicine regarding constipation (7). On traditional Chinese med- icine, constipation is a sign of Blood deficiency and an imbalance on Spleen-pancreas and Heat retention (8). The lack of energy of one of these energies or a combination of them can lead to the formation of internal Heat inside the body, as you can see in the Figure 4. (8-14) This internal Heat is responsible for the symptoms of constipation, as the internal Heat will generate the consumption of liquids inside the body, leading to dry and hard stools. This is the reason that in the case of patients with chronic constipation, the use of laxatives needs to be used with caution because it will release and waste more water inside the body and can harm even more the constipation process. The treatment in this case should take all the measures to avoid the formation of internal Heat, advising the patients to eat correct foods to balance the in- ternal energy and also avoid all the foods that could generate more internal Heat directly, leading to the worsening of the symptoms (10, 26). In the treatment prescribed by the author, she took out the internal Heat from the patients using apex ear bloodletting and Figure 2: Yin and Yang symbol. balancing the internal energies using Chinese dietary counseling, demonstrated in the description in the case report and also, doing Yin and Yang are two opposite and complementary forces that exist auricular acupuncture to balance the internal energy of Yin, Yang, in our world, in everything, including the human body. (16) That is why, in patients with chronic constipation does not im- prove the symptom only increasing the quantity of fibers in the diet or increasing the amount of water, because the cause of constipa- tion was not treated accordingly, since there are energies imbalanc- es leading to the formation of Heat retention that was causing the hard and dry stools. In the study entitled Use of fibers in childhood constipation treatment: systematic review with meta-analysis, written by Patricia Piccoli, she demonstrated in her article study- ing that among 680 children studied, no statistical significance was observed for bowel movement frequency, stool consistency, thera- peutic success, incontinence and abdominal pain with fiber intake in patients with childhood constipation. (18) This kind of reasoning (20)In this article, and in several articles published by the author, is important to understand because if the patient imbalance one she used to use the radiesthesia procedure to measure the energy organ eating foods that could induce the imbalance state in one of the internal organs, using a crystal pendulum to quantify the element or organ, this will induce the imbalance state of the other energy of each organ. This procedure was also published in many organs. That is why in the treatment of plenish the chakras´energies centers these patients it is necessary to remove all foods that worsen the absorption of nutrients, giving warm water, the food cannot be raw, it has to be cooked, removing milk, sweets and trying not to worry too much. (10,29) It is necessary to avoid foods that increase the internal Heat formation, which are fried foods, eggs, chocolate, honey, coconut and alcoholic beverages. (10, 22, 29) If the patient has Yin and Yang deficiency, these kind of drinks should also be avoided: soda, coffee and matte tea. Warm water is important to tone the Spleen-pancreas to produce more Blood, generating less internal Heat and not leaving stools dry, as Fire is It is important to explain that even if the patient does not show not produced, or produced less and leading to softer stools. (10, alterations in the laboratory exams, such as hemoglobin, but the 22, 27) patient already has constipation, this means that it already has a lack of Blood in the body, but this deficiency is still in phases 1 to 3 disease and only in phase 4 that will be diagnosed by exams, so it is necessary to treat the patient at the energy level, where it already had deficiencies. Using this kind of reasoning, the patient described in the case report and in all patients that the author treat- ed, it is important to consider other ancient medical traditions prior to the knowledge we have nowadays. (8-13, 21-26) Figure 7: Chakras’ energies deficiencies and the internal massive organs correspondence in the Five Elements theory. Often the patient still does not have energy, despite doing every- thing right, so it is necessary to treat the energy of the chakras, since the Small intestine is a hollow organ that is controlled by the massive Heart organ, which is the 3rd chakra. The Large intestine is controlled by the Lung, which is the 4th chakra and the organ that is responsible for the absorption of nutrients is the fifth chakra, Figure 6: Arndt-Shultz law represented by the Spleen, as you can see in the Figure 7. (8-13, 21-26) Often the use of laxative in these cases of constipation will worsen the condition, as the laxative causes the patient to lose a lot of The 2nd chakra (Kidney) is also responsible for the production of water and that patient is already having lack of fluid inside the Yin and Yang and the 1st chakra (Liver) is responsible for the dis- body due to the formation of internal Heat, so often the patient tribution of Qi, as you can see in the Figure 7. In the case report, worsens afterwards to use the laxative. (27) Another point related both patients have no energy in the chakras’ energies centers and to the use of the laxative is the fact that it is a highly concentrated for this reason, they cannot absorb the nutrients adequately (lack medication and according to the Arndt-Shultz law that says that of energy in the fifth chakra) and producing less Blood. But there are other problems related to the lack of while high concentrations would be harmful to health, decreasing energy in other chakras’ energies centers, for example, the lack of the vital energy (28). energy in the second chakra (Kidney) will reduce the production of Yin and Yang energy, leading to imbalances in the cycle shown In Western medicine the patient is recommended to eat enough in the Figure 3 and 4.
