From Our President Thank You! past presidents, executive committee members, and finance committee members for putting our organization in a posi- tion where we can weather life’s storms. I want to thank our long-time Executive Director, Tina McCort, for her dedicated and stellar service to the SCBA. Tina has directed the SCBA since 1998, and I am a first-hand witness of the invaluable benefit that her skill, knowledge and experience is to the SCBA. Thank you also to the SCBA staff, Richele Brown, Chris Diaz, and Paulie Wagner, for your dedication and work for the SCBA. Thank you to the SCBA Executive Committee and Officers. Each member of our Executive Committee is involved in all significant decisions of the association. This could not be the case without each member’s participation and responsiveness. Thank you for the time and counsel you have provided to the SCBA. Thank you to the Of- ficers, Attorneys Ivan Redinger, Jr., Aletha Carver, Ste- phen Babik, Gust Callas, and the Hon. 2020 Law Week Essay Winner “Your Vote, Your Voice, Our Democracy: The 19th Amendment at 100” Why I Want To Become A Lawyer by Sadie Owens It’s one thing to commit one’s life to helping others, for the average citizen, is what drives me to become a but another thing entirely to commit to fighting the lawyer still today.
