4.7.9.7 If requested by the Eligibility Scrutineer, a car or cars, as the case might be, will be presented for scrutiny with
the engine rocker cover and crankshaft timing pin blanking plug removed. The timing settings will be checked
and when found to comply, will have the engine rocker cover replaced. TDC setting of the crankshaft may also
be checked by other means to ensure compliance. The two bolts used for sealing the rocker cover must be
tightened to the specified torque. This must be witnessed by the scrutineer, who will then seal the rocker cover.
Any two adjacent bolts can be used. If subsequently, a car needs to have the rocker cover removed at any time
for maintenance purposes, the Championship Eligibility Scrutineer will have to be notified, and the rocker cover
may be resealed in the same manner as described above at Championship Eligibility Scrutineer’s discretion.
If a car is fitted with a different engine to the engine originally presented, the above sealing procedure might
have to be adhered to again at Championship Eligibility Scrutineer’s discretion.
Machining of any parts which can in any way alter this setting is prohibited as already covered elsewhere in the
            technical regulations.
If an engine is subsequently found to have different camshaft settings, and the seal has not been tampered with
or broken, it will not be deemed to be in breach of this rule.

 4.7.10 Pistons
4.7.10.1 Pistons must be standard production pistons (Part No. 928M 611OEK or 958M611OEL for reference only), or
aftermarket equivalent (and is allowed to go 0.5mm oversize} and unmodified in any way except for balancing
          and as detailed.
4.7.10.2 All three piston rings must be fitted; piston rings must be standard production.
4.7.10.3 The combustion chamber face of the piston cannot be modified, other than a machining cut on the entire piston
face at 90’ to the stroke in order to obtain correct piston to top of block dimensions.
4.7.10.4 The minimum piston weight shall still be observed. The minimum weight of the connecting-rod and piston
assembly shall be 1004gm. (Complete piston with rings and pin, and connecting- rod with bolts but excluding
crankshaft bearings). One con rod must remain untouched with the three other con rods balanced to match the
          lightest untouched con rod.
4.7.10.5 The piston cooling oil squirt jets, and the oil feed lines to them, must be retained, except where engine blocks
with code RDA and RKC are used as per clause 4.7.2. It is permitted to strengthen the fixing of the nozzle to the
body of the piston cooling jet provided the original function is maintained and unaltered.

 4.7.11 Connecting Rods
4.7.11.1 Connecting rods must be standard (Ford Part No. 928M 6200AlJ for reference) or equivalent.
4.7.11.2 Machining is permitted to remove metal from the big-end cap to achieve balance only. Area for balancing
          defined in the diagrams below

 4.7.11.3 Polishing is prohibited.
4.7.11.4 The minimum weight of the connecting-rod and piston assembly shall be 1004gm. (Complete piston with rings
and pin and connecting rod with bolts but excluding crankshaft bearings).

 4.7.12 Crankshaft
4.7.12.1 A standard crankshaft must be used. Spot machining (by radial drilling or milling) to achieve balance is
permitted. Polishing is prohibited. Crankshaft minimum weight is 13.6kg (including gearbox spigot bearing).
Crankshaft journals must remain within Ford positional tolerances if a repair regrind is carried out.
4.7.12.2 A standard crankshaft pulley and damper must be used.
4.7.12.3 It is not permitted to alter the number of bearings or fit bearings of less than standard production width.
4.7.12.4 The crank journals may be reground for reclaim, as long as the minimum crank weight is respected. Standard
oversize and undersize bearings are permitted.

4.7.13 Flywheel and Clutch
4.7.13 The flywheel assembly must be a standard component. The unit may be reduced in weight according to the
diagram below. No other machining is allowed. To achieve minimum weight and balance, material may be
removed from the area indicated on the drawing. For rectification the clutch mating face may be resurfaced,
provided the minimum weight is respected. It is permitted to use a similar pattern replacement clutch (i.e.,
conventional single diaphragm spring) and driven plate with shock absorber springs (four or more spring
assemblies). Organic friction material only is permitted. It is permitted to alter the clutch spline to suit the
gearbox. Racing clutches are prohibited. The position of the ignition timing mark on the flywheel relative to the
crankshaft sensor must remain within Ford design limits at all times. No part of these regulations allows this to
be altered. Also the electronics regulations specifically ban any change that could in any way alter the ignition
timing as defined by the standard calibration within the engine electronics.

Irish Strykers Racing Championship Regulations 2022 – Published Copy Page 17 of 24
