Balanced tourism The impact of corona and recovery COVID-19 is having a huge impact on the tourism industry. Cities that, like Amsterdam, were struggling with the nuisance of overtourism now have to deal with the fact that hardly any tourists can or want to visit them. There was no balance before the pandemic, there is no balance now. The economy of these cities depends heavily on tourism, which means that their businesses are hit relatively harder than businesses that are less dependent on tourists. The pandemic is regarded as an opportunity to rethink tourism in these cities.
