Our role is to promote this amazing region to the world and we do this through working with industry partners like you. The Whitsundays offers a great diversity of attractions and experiences with the stunning backdrop of the Great Barrier Reef and 74 island wonders. We believe that the Whitsundays offers, quite simply, the best Great Barrier Reef experience there is, being situated right in the heart of this vast living structure, which is one of the seven natural wonders of the world. The Great Barrier Reef hosts one third of the world’s coral species and is home to more than 1,500 species of fish as well as turtles, whales, dolphins, dugongs, reef sharks, manta rays and giant clams. ACCESS ACCESS The Whitsundays is located along Queensland’s central coast in north-eastern Australia, approximately 1120km north of Brisbane and 630km south of Cairns. Getting to the Whitsundays is easy, whether from across the other side of the world, or driving from nearby. By Air – There are two airports which service the Whitsundays By Road – The Bruce Highway is the major road linking daily, Whitsunday Coast Airport (PPP) in Proserpine, and Great Queensland’s coastal cities and towns, and runs through Barrier Reef Airport (HTI) on Hamilton Island.
