Dear guests, Autumn at the Interalpen-Hotel Tyrol is a time for ex- plorers and connoisseurs. Exercise and relaxation exist in perfect harmony. While the daytime is here to wander through the ruddy and golden glow of the alpine forests, in the evening the Interalpen-Spa draws guests in with a promise of all-round well-being and relaxation. It is also a time for contemplation in readiness for the onset of winter. Having grown to maturity over the summer months, the fruits of the ear th are now harvested. Hence, every day our Interalpen-cuisine treats guests to all kinds of s easonal specialities made from regionally-sourced ingredients, sending the senses on a culinary voyage of discovery. Advent arrives when the first snowflakes reach the valleys and peace descends upon the natural world. This magi- cal veil of introspection caresses our hotel, too. We are devoting this edition of the magazine – in par t – to our festive ‘Advent in the Mountains’ programme. It shows guests the traditional and modern customs we celebrate in the run-up to Christmas in Tyrol, and in our hotel. Discover a whole new range of attractions as you join us on the journey from a golden autumn to a Tyrolean winter wonderland – be it spor ting activities, exciting day- trip destinations, yuletide customs or traditional festive meals. Autumn and winter are seasons rich in wonders, great and small. We look forward to spending some of this time with you! Best wishes Best wishes Karl Brüggemann Christine Riedl-Knief Managing Director Deputy Director & Interalpen-Hotel Tyrol Guest Relations Interalpen-Hotel Tyrol
Welcome to a golden autumn It is almost as if the natural world has gathered up all its remaining strength when daylight comes in softer tones and a golden hue hovers over the verdant pastureland. The mountains seem even more lifelike and tangible. Fresh, clean air guarantees excellent vis- ibility and gentle wisps of mist dance across dew-covered fields. Even the leaves on the trees glow in richer colours – from darker greens to the soft oranges and brooding reds of late summer. Squirrels begin to search for their winter supplies and nutcrackers stockpile for the colder months in the undergrowth of the alpine forests. Autumn ultimately takes its hold, and both man and beast are forced to prepare for the tranquil season ahead. Fun in the snow for all ages When myriad snowflakes fall from the sky and swathe the country- side around the Interalpen-Hotel Tyrol in robes of white, there are countless enjoyable and exhilarating activities to indulge in – out in the snow; out in the natural world. Action in the snow for adults The Olympiaregion Seefeld offers perfect conditions for cross-country and downhill skiers. There are several other activi- ties to be enjoyed in the snow around the hotel as you forget the stress of everyday life. A walk with the sledges up to the Rauth- hütte or Hämmermoosalm lodges is an ideal blend of exercise and fun. Take a break and recharge there by enjoying Austrian treats like Kaiserschmarrn, apple strudel, or a cup of cocoa or tea – maybe with a shot of rum. Alpine curling is a great test for those looking to test their accuracy. This convivial winter spor t is a well- loved tradition in many par ts of Tyrol, providing plenty of natural breaks for a chat in the fresh air. Somewhat higher fitness levels are required for the 3.5-hour, 13-kilometre Wildmoos circuit winter hike in idyllic winter surroundings. Those wishing to cut out the difficult sections can always complete par t of the circuit on the bus or in a horse-drawn sleigh, which in itself is a rewarding and roman- tic means of exploring this winter wonderland. Fun and games in the snow The easiest way to understand just how many activities can be enjoyed out in a snow-covered landscape is to see the world through the eyes of a child. Cup the hands a few times and you have a battery of frosty snowballs waiting for the command: ‘Snow- balls at the ready? Go!’ Let the snowball fight begin! To improve throwing skills, all you need is a target. There are no creative limits to the snow figures you can build – caterpillars, bears, snowmen or even an igloo to crawl inside. A family winter trek is even more enter taining with a quick break for a game of tic-tac-toe in the snow. The board is easily etched into the snow with a branch, and stones and pine cones replace the noughts and crosses. Outdoors in the winter landscape, an attentive eye soon picks up the tracks and traces of forest animals to reveal the fascinating lives of these creatures. Even if you do not have much time, simply fall back into the snow to raise and drop your arms once or twice. Every snow angel you make comes with a smile guarantee.
