VIRTUAL AWARDS The presentation of the Generation Apprenticeship trophies, certificates and alphies were held back in the hope that circumstances would allow an awards ceremony where we could all meet and celebrate together. However the ongoing challenge with the Covid-19 pandemic across Ireland meant that the opportunity to gather in-person was not possible. As an alternative way to celebrate the achievements of the finalists a virtual format was proposed, where Minister for Further and Higher Education Simon Harris TD presented online the winning trophy and finalist certificates to the teams in a short video. Each team was then invited to create a short response video accepting their award from the Minister. This family of videos were profiled across our social media channels. Video views across Twitter over 43,000 by 23 October 2020 CELEBRATING PROGRESS During Quarter 1 2021 we will launch a celebration project showcasing the work of the first three years of the Generation Apprenticeship competition, with a focus on the energies, spirit and untold stories of the apprentices who took part. We hope to capture their strength and leadership qualities. In the national billboard exhibition of the 2020 finalists we saw amazing work used in really imaginative ways. It showcased the open and collaborative efforts of a great apprenticeship community. www.apprenticeship.ie NEW WEBSITE FOR APPRENTICESHIP As well as including comprehensive information on all apprenticeship programmes, dedicated information for employers, current and potential apprentices, parents and educators, the website features really powerful pieces from current and graduate apprentices, employers and employer ambassadors telling their story and experience. The website is a dynamic source for updates and information on Generation Apprenticeship in Ireland and a first step in wider efforts to secure a stronger image for apprenticeship across the digital landscape.
