What was the secret to my success? I got another card. A second credit card. i know, i know, it sounds too good to be true. well, there’s a method to my madness. i concentrated on my “payback” card with the embarrassing large balance, but i realized that sometimes you just need a credit card. so i got another one. this new card was special. it was my “stuff” card. Just for me. i wanted something, i bought it! so how was this possible? i decided on a small limit for “my card” that i could handle. i chose $500. if i maxed out my card with shopping, going out to eat, or any of the other reasons we pull out the plastic without even thinking, i was out of luck. no more stuff for me until i paid down my balance. i couldn’t (and wouldn’t) use my payback card. i had decided that getting out of debt was important to me and i stuck to it and it worked. i still have that same $500 card and i’ve also paid back my payback card. i use it now for major purchases, like replacing an appliance, a major repair for the car or other unexpected bills that come up. and i pay it back with the knowledge that i know what i’m paying for, not just stuff. that’s what my other card is for. so get a handle on your debt and get yourself two cards. with a little determination, you can do it too. now you just have to take that first step, and BayPort is always here to help. Come in to your local branch or go on-line to apply today. For a limited time, bayport is offering a promotional rate of 2.99% apr* on all qualifying balance transfers made between march 1, 2018 until may 31, 2018. you get to keep this great rate until december 2018 giving you plenty of time to make a huge dent, if not eliminate your credit card debt all together.
