“I’m big on DIY projects, so I usually jazz up my IKEA purchases and give them to friends as gifts.” Bright and breezy, Ferhana and Hassan’s spacious five-bedroom apartment in Pasir Ris looks and feels like a tropical seaside resort. It’s no wonder they’ve nicknamed their home ‘Bohemian Bure’, after the wood and straw huts they fell in love with on a holiday to Fiji. Travel is a big source of inspiration for the creative couple – they show us how they’ve brought their dream home to life. Given the limited space in our apartment, we decided that each piece of furniture must serve dual purposes. The single shelf is used as TV console, while the two double shelves are used as a console table and space divider.
