3RD INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PROCESS MINING (ICPM2021) ABOUT THE CONFERENCE It is my pleasure to welcome you to Eindhoven for the 3rd International Conference on Process Mining (ICPM 2021). This year we are delighted that this edition of ICPM is held in person at Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands from October 31 till November 4, 2021. Eindhoven is a bustling city in transition, with a constant flow of new developments in the fields of technology, innovation, knowledge creativity and design. This environment, together with the acknowledged experts whom we have invited, ensures a memorable scientific and social program. Process mining emerged in Eindhoven around the turn of this century. It’s therefore no surprise that many process mining vendors find their roots here and that enterprises in The Netherlands and neighbouring countries have embraced process mining as the main tool to improve their business processes in a data-driven and fact-based manner. ICPM provides a unique opportunity for vendors to meet the scientists developing new ideas in the field and customers applying process mining on a daily basis. Over 300 international delegates from across industry and academia are registered to attend the conference. This year’s conference has some unique features. First, the presentations are shorter than usual, with only 15 minutes per paper, followed by a panel discussion per session. Hopefully, this leads to engaging discussions between the authors, authors working on similar topics and the interested audience. Another new feature is that all workshop papers are published open-access. Hence, after the workshops, when the authors have had a chance to finalize their papers based on the discussions in the workshops, the proceedings will be made freely available. While Eindhoven has a lot to offer in terms of restaurants and bars, the social program takes place entirely on campus. This decision was driven by the COVID restrictions in place at the time of making the necessary bookings. However, we encourage you to visit the city in the program’s free time or afterwards. In particular, the GLOW festival may be worth staying longer for. Note that, at the time of writing, bars and restaurants will require proof of vaccination, recovery, or a negative test for COVID using the EU’s QR code system. During the conference, this code is not required (with exception of the steering committee dinner on Tuesday). I am looking forward to very informative days here in Eindhoven, full of interesting presentations and networking opportunities! 3RD INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PROCESS MINING (ICPM2021) CONFERENCE VENUE ICPM 2021 takes place at Eindhoven University of Technology. The campus of the Eindhoven University of Technology is situated in the heart of Eindhoven, ten minutes walking distance from Eindhoven Central railway station. Not only university buildings can be found on the compact green campus, but companies, research institutes, and the Student Sports Centre as well. Most buildings are connected via walkways. The map below indicates the important buildings for ICPM 2021. The entire campus is a non-smoking campus, also outdoors. This means that you have to go off-campus to smoke. The closest smoking spot is indicated on the map below. 3RD INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PROCESS MINING (ICPM2021) 17:30 – 20:30 Welcome reception We would like to warmly welcome you to ICPM at the campus of Eindhoven University of Technology. The welcome reception offers you the chance to get in touch again with your colleagues whom you have been talking to via MS Teams or Zoom over the past year or two. The reception is held on the north side of the Atlas building. Atlas is the result of the renovation of the former TU/e main building. As a result of this renovation, the building’s CO2 emissions have been reduced by around 80 percent while the number of users has more than doubled. This reduction is partly due to the highly insulating glass facade and the fact that the building no longer uses fossil fuels: its connection to the gas grid is shut off. Heat and cooling now come from the campus-wide aquifer thermal energy storage system (ATES), which is one of the largest in Europe. 10 www.icpmconference.org ICPM 2021
3RD INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PROCESS MINING (ICPM2021) Conference Day One: November 2 (Tuesday) Location: Auditorium, Blauwe Zaal It is a tradition for the ICPM conference series to invite keynote speakers from neighboring research fields who themselves are interested in exploring the touchpoints between their research areas and process mining. We are happy to announce that the conference is opened with a keynote from Silvia Miksch. Silvia Miksch is University Professor and head of the Research Division “Visual Analytics” (CVAST), Institute of Visual Computing and Human-Centered Technology, TU Wien. 3RD INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PROCESS MINING (ICPM2021) XES 2.0 Workshop: November 2 (Tuesday) Location: Auditorium, Auditorium 5 Although the popularity and adoption of process mining techniques grew rapidly in recent years, a large portion of effort invested in process mining initiatives is still consumed by event data preparation rather than process analysis. The Task Force on Process Mining conducted a study focused on the challenges faced during event data preparation (from source data to event log). The XES 2.0 workshop shares the results of this survey and will help guide the evolution of the current XES standard towards XES 2.0. 3RD INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PROCESS MINING (ICPM2021) Dinner in the city Eindhoven’s City center provides plenty of opportunities for dining out. The market square and the Dommelstraat (indicated in yellow below) are the closest locations with restaurants which can easily be reached by foot (or bicycle) from the TU/e campus. Note that the train station cannot be traversed without a valid train ticket. The easiest route from campus to the city is via the “Dommeltunnel” (in red) or around the train station (in blue). Find a friend, colleague, or local to dine with and enjoy the city! Note that a QR code with proof of vaccination, recovery, or a negative test will be required to enter bars and restaurants.
