TELL STORIES • Human beings are programmed to respond to stories - Stories help us to pay attention, and also to remember things. - Your audience is more likely to engage and remember your points - Think about what story you are trying to tell your audience, and create your presentation to tell it. 3

10/5/2017 Don’t let Power Point (Keynote) Outsmart You Presentation DONT’s Don’t let Power Point decide how you use PowerPoint • Microsoft wanted to provide PowerPoint users with a lot of tools and often wants to make decisions for you. But this does not mean you should use them all. • Don’t use Microsoft Office’s default fonts, Calibri and Cambria. These two fonts lack punch and can make your presentation a bit . • Never use PPT’s action sounds – it is not considered professional • Click off background graphics routinely – they can make your presentation drag. • PPT Themes: Make sure that the presets complement your needs!
