Facebook/Instagram:@GreenGardenBunches • Website: greengardenbunches.com Email: greengardenbunches@yahoo.com Ravi Mohamed has always had a passion for gardening and working with plants, an interest that began when he was a child and has since advanced into a major in Land- scape Architecture at Rutgers University. Having grown up in Jersey City, NJ he always regarded Newark as his neighbor, and so when he was informed that his Senior Studio would be based in Newark, he was ecstatic to apply his knowledge and passion to a place so close to home. Mohamed intends to challenge the way the metropolitan re- gions are planned, designed, and developed to create a new model for urban design that seeks to accommodate people of all races, cultures, and socioeconomic stand- ings. Our cities—Newark included—should be places that look to establish a relation- ship not only between those that inhabit them but also between the built environment and the natural landscape. Towering trees, fluttering birds and butterflies, blooming inflorescences; these flora and fauna liven the dull grays and browns that typically characterize our cities, transforming them into living, breathing coloring books. “This is my vision of what our cities, and what Newark, can become,” says Mohamed. Kyle Daum, a student of Landscape Architecture at Rutgers University, focuses heavily on creating culturally unique physical spaces within an urban context. He plans on continuing his education and eventually pursuing a career in urban planning and urban design.
