Welcome from the Chairman Welcome to the 2019 Highlands of Fife Ploughing Association annual ploughing match. It's hard to believe it's already a year since the "Beast From The East" arrived, covering the country in a blanket of snow and causing the 2018 match first to be postponed for two weeks, then to be cancelled after a second wave of bad weather hit, making a ploughing match impossible. This was a great disappointment to everyone who had worked so hard in preparation for the match. As the saying goes "Ye cannae mak' the wither"! Here's hoping today's is kinder to us! 2019 is a special year for competition ploughing in Fife with the Scottish Championships due to be held at Bowhouse Farm, St Monans in October. This will also incorporate the European Vintage and Classic Ploughing Championships which will make it quite a spectacle and well worth a visit. I'd like to say a big thank you to J&H Jack for providing us with such an excellent site for this year’s match and for all their assistance and, as always, to the Committee, judges, stewards, sponsors, caterer, neighbours, competitors, spectators and every who has helped to make today's match possible. I hope everyone has an enjoyable day. Archie Finlay Chairman
