HOW TO REGISTER FOR SPORTS & ACTIVITIES: ONLINE REGISTRATION: Please register at hrce.org if possible. NEW: There is a $5 processing fee for those registering on paper who aren’t on scholarship. Save money by registering online! SCHOLARSHIPS: Those who are on scholarship or who can't register online MUST do the following: 1. CALL Hesston Rec at 327-2989 so we can look up how much scholarship money you have remaining through June 30, 2021. We will tell you how much you owe—if any. See scholarship guidelines on page 3. 2. If possible PRINT OUT a registration form on page 5 and fill one out for each child. Where it says “SPORT” write down all sports/classes/activities they want to take. You also can write that on a separate piece of paper. 3. After all the papers are filled out at home, DROP YOUR REGISTRATIONS & PAYMENT (if applicable) in the outside dropbox at HRCE. WINTER SPORT: Indoor soccer for 1st-6th graders Hesston Recreation will offer indoor soccer for three divisions this winter. First- and 2nd-graders will be in the junior division; 3rd- & 4th- graders will be in the intermediate division; and 5th- & 6th-graders will be in the senior division. Teams will be coed . Games will be played on Saturdays starting in February and ending in mid-March. Evening games will be scheduled as needed, based on number of teams. Your child will play on all the Saturdays and possibly a weekday evening, based on division. COST: $25 (add $5 for paper registrations not on scholarship). Fee includes a T-shirt. Swather Baseball Camp First– through 6th-graders will learn the basic to advanced funda- mentals of Hesston High School Baseball through an energetic and interactive camp held by the HHS Baseball staff and players. Campers will have the chance to win Swather Baseball gear as a prize for dirtbag of the day and best teammate/ communicator. ADULT CLASSES & EVENTS AN A-DOOR-ABLE CRAFT! These fun 15”-18” flat wood “A-Door-nments” dé- cor’ are a colorful new trend that class instructor Roni Caffrey will lead us through step-by-step. All supplies will be provided for this paint-by- number-type project. Gather with a fun group and paint a seasonal or themed hanger for your front door, deck, office or oth- er location. Those 14 and younger may attend with an adult. Classes limited to 12. Join one or register for all! Classes offered at 7 p.m. the following Thursdays: Jan. 21 March 11 April 29 $30 for January class. The first of this two-part class provides a personal evaluation of your own level of eating competence, discussion and exercises to allow your eat- ing to become more positive, comfortable and flexible. The second class answers questions that arise while implementing eating competence basics in your life between sessions. Both classes encourage joyful eating, peace with food, and changes in perspectives that lead to freedom with food. This class is for adults 18 and older. ADULT CLASSES & EVENTS Adult co-ed volleyball offered WHAT: HRCE is offering co-ed volleyball in 2021! Teams must have a minimum of 6 players (3 women & 3 men) to enter the league. WHERE: Hesston High School aux gym WHEN: Sunday evenings starting March 28 and running through April 18 GAMES: 6 regular-season games plus a tournament to conclude the season COST: $175 per team REGISTER: Each team leader will go to hrce.org to pay dues prior to the first game and enter a team name. The deadline is Friday, March 19. Childcare will be offered during games for kids 3 & older. Team leaders will be sent registration forms for all players to fill out and sign. Team leaders should email or send those forms to the HRCE office prior to the first game or turn them in at the first game. No one is allowed to play unless they have signed the waiver and paid. Those who would like to play but don’t have a team should contact the HRCE office and we’ll try to form a team. Hop into the event on April 2 Hesston Recreation and Golden Plains Credit Union will continue the longtime tradition of a community Easter Egg Hunt for children on Friday, April 2. The annual Easter Egg & Candy Hunt in Hesston will be at 10 a.m. Plenty of eggs and candy will be hidden! Hesston Recreation will provide the Easter eggs and candy, and Golden Plains Credit Union of Hesston will furnish buckets for gathering goodies. The hunts will be at the following locales, with an area reserved for each age group. The age groups and locations are: 0-3 year olds at King Park at Ridge Road and Lincoln Boulevard 4-5 year olds at King Park 6-7 year olds at Heritage Park off of Ridge Road across from Hesston High School 8-9 year olds at Hesston Middle School In case of inclement weather, the hunt will be in the Hesston Middle School gym. Golden Plains Credit Union will have cookies and a drawing for a large Easter basket after the hunt at the branch, 140 N. Main St. in Hesston. EMMA CREEK QUILT GUILD SETS MEETINGS The Emma Creek Quilt Guild meets15 the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Hesston Area Senior Center, 108 E. Randall St. Anyone from beginning to advanced skill level who enjoys making or hearing about quilting would enjoy these monthly meetings. This is a great opportunity for a learning time, as well as a sharing time of quilting projects. Visitors are welcome to attend a couple times free of charge. The annual membership fee is $25. Kids Connect School Age Program Hesston Community Child Care Association offers parents a full day En- richment Program for School Age Children, known as Kids Connect. This is an extension of our Intergenerational Child Development Center. Our School Age program is located inside the Hesston Elementary School. Hours of Operation are 6:15am-6pm Planning Ahead for the 2020-2021 Winter and Spring School Year Rate is $35.95 a day The cost includes breakfast, lunch and a snack each day (NO OUTSIDE FOOD IS ALLOWED) Winter Break Planned Inservice Days Spring Break Kids Connect will provide All Day program when school is not in session, as long as HES has not moved to Red Zone. With COVID-19 leaving us in the unknown, we practice pa- tience and flexibility when planning for future programming and care. While your child is attending Kids Connect, you will have the peace of mind knowing that they are in a safe and healthy environment. We strive to cover preventive, safeguarding and corrective measures that ad- dress COVID-19: Wellness Education, Enhanced Hygiene, Healthy Environments and Symptom Monitoring. If you are new to the Kids Connect Program for the 2020- 2021 school year you will need to stop by and pick up en- rollment forms and a SEP contract at Hesston Intergenerational CDC, 441 Neufeld Dr. (on Schowalter Villa campus). 25
HESSTON PARKS’ FACILITIES The city of Hesston maintains two park multi-use facilities that may be reserved by an organization or individual. These facilities are the Heritage Park shelter house and the King Park community-use facility. These buildings are in great demand, therefore, a reservation procedure has been established. Reservations are to be made through City Hall during regular working hours by calling 620-327-4412 Reservations shall be granted on a first-come, first-served basis. Payment of rental fees must be made at the time the reservation is made. Reservations will be taken for no more than one year in advance. Rental fees for park facilities are available through the city office. Rental fees will be refunded if the reservation is cancelled by notifying City Hall of the cancellation at least three days in advance of the rental date. Additional rental terms and agreements are available through City Hall. Reservations of facilities for activities not sponsored by Hesston USD 460 and HRCE shall be arranged by contacting one of the following three offices: 1) district administrative office (commons, kitchens, gymnasiums, classrooms, parking lots, auditorium, and stadium); 2) recreation office (ball diamonds, soccer fields, swimming pool, tennis courts, and gymnasiums for practices); or 3) The Pit Stop. Reservations of any other spaces are at the discretion of the superintendent. Reservation of any facility ensures the user of access to restrooms, drinking fountains, and furniture regularly used in the facility.
