However, gin isn't the only thing made by Bruce for this brand - he also designed and built the 10 plate copper column still that the gin is produced in! The botanicals used to create this expression include juniper, angelica, coriander, hibiscus and birch, and is a true craft gin, handcrafted, combining contemporary with tradition to create a modern and unique gin. We hope to inspire our drinkers with the same passion for locally-made, authentic produce that inspired us to create it. No matter how smooth a gin promises to be, you never expect the sensation to be…well, this. It’s honestly as soft as water, bar the cinnamon/cassia tongue lashing. 5 - J.J Whitley Nettle Gin 38.6% JJ Whitley Nettle Gin has a heavy herbaceous aroma and offers a light, refreshing, zingy kick on the palate, bound together with a gently sweetness. A good third of the ingredients for this special gin come from the Black Forest, and are definitely not what you would call typical gin flavourings. In total 47 handpicked ingredients, prepared in extremely soft spring water, give Monkey 47 whose piece de resistance is the use of local cranberries as some sort of ‘secret weapon’, its unrivalled complexity and quality, which is fully brought to bear through masterly distillation and maturing in traditional earthenware containers. Made to a special recipe, the name No.3 refers to the address of BBR - Number 3, St James's Street. 9 - Puerto De Indias Pure Black Edition 40% Puerto de Indias Black Edition is a Premium Spanish Gin, made with citrus, jasmine and vanilla for creating more floral G&Ts, Seville intense and strong flavours, notes of orange blossom and citrus gives firmness and authority of its fruit flavour. Recommended Tonic: Fever Tree Tonic Garnish: Lime Zest 10 - Saffron Gin 40% Saffron Gin comes from a recipe rediscovered in the Boudier archives. Saffron Gin is the result of an alliance between Great Britain for its London Dry Gin, India for its spices used extensively in cooking and in religious ceremonies, and French know-how developed by Gabriel Boudier. This original product with exotic notes is manufactured entirely at Dijon, on the nose, juniper and corriander, not saffron, are the first botanicals to stand out leaving the spice in question to emerge later, and leaves you wanting more. 13 - Poetic License Baked Apple & Salted Caramel Gin Liqueur 21% A tempting aroma of spiced apple lures you in. The drink first delivers flavours of sweet, cooked apple backed up by warming cinnamon which complements the spiciness of the Old Tom Gin. Further sweetness then comes through from the seasoned caramel which lingers to leave lasting flavours of caramelised apple. This is a fab small-batch gin with classic notes of juniper alongside, cubeb, cardamom, sweet gale, hibiscus flowers and of course cherry and almond. Recommended Tonic: Fever Tree Indian Tonic Garnish: Slice of Lime 16 - Pin Gin 40% All the way from Lincolnshire comes Pin Gin, a tasty tipple made by Bottomley Distillers. Look out for notes of black pepper, cucumber, rose, lavender, liquorice, cinnamon, almond and a flash of citrus. 17 - Peaky Blinder Spiced Gin 40% A full-bodied gin named after the Peaky Blinders, a street gang from the late 19th/early 20th Century from the Black Country, over a century’s worth of knowledge and passion has led the Sadler family to create this bold, small batch, handcrafted spiced gin, blended with exotic spices and botanicals. 25 - Martin Miller’s Dry Gin 40% Martin Miller's gin is distilled in pot stills and shipped to Iceland, where it is mixed with Icelandic spring water. It is flavored with Tuscan juniper, cassia bark, angelica, Florentine orris, coriander, Seville citrus peel, nutmeg, cinnamon and liquorice root. To create a batch, there is a 15-hour botanical maceration period, then the spirit is distilled (a process that typically lasts about 5-6 hours - before being watered down and bottled at 47% ABV. So, alongside juniper and grapefruit, lemon and oranges, the other 10 botanicals include meadowsweet, vanilla, aniseed, orris root, liquorice root, cocoa, grains of paradise, cassia bark, nutmeg and coriander.
