GRASS SEED CLOVER BLENDS As an important element of certain grass mixtures, clover can be added to any of the TechniSward range of grass leys. This can either be done at the point of order or introduced to the ley at a later date after weed control has been successfully achieved. Modern overseeding methods are particularly effective at establishing clover at this time. All of our clover blends can be incorporated into the mixtures or purchased separately for overseeding at a later date. 08 GRAZING BLEND DUAL PURPOSE BLEND CUTTING BLEND RED CLOVER BLEND 40% Galway 20% Galway 36% Violin 35% Amos 60% Buddy 30% Buddy 40% Dublin 25% Callisto 20% Dublin 24% Brianna 40% Sangria 18% Violin 8% Klondike 12% Brianna Clovers are legumes and as such can fix their own Nitrogen from the atmosphere. GRASS SEED MAIZE UNDERSOWING MIXTURES There are a lot of concerns about the impact the maize crop is currently having on the environment. Factors such as soil erosion and nutrient leaching need addressing as a matter of priority. Future environmental legislation may well require that maize stubbles are protected from soil erosion and nutrient leaching by utilising cover crops. It is also a challenge to try and establish any sort of cover crop after a maize crop has been harvested especially 20 in a late season where weather conditions have deteriorated. Undersowing the maize crop with a grass seed mixture designed specifically for that purpose has been proven to be successful when done correctly. It is imperative to sow at the right time with the right species so the growing crop isn’t affected. The benefits of Undersowing a grass cover crop into maize Reduce nitrate leaching Potential for better digestate utilisation Improves soil structure Helps to reduce soil erosion Increase soil organic matter levels Potential for winter livestock grazing
