Dr. Budhrani is a board-certified emergency medicine physician and clinical

LPS Online and has been a guest lecturer for classes at the Wharton School and

Martin E.P. Seligman, PhD, Zellerbach Family Professor of Psychology; Director, Dr. Budhrani of his continued involvement at Penn. “I value all those places that
Positive Psychology Center gave me tools to be successful going forward. Penn had a profound impact on my
trajectory.”
James O. Pawelski, PhD, Professor of Practice and Director of Education, Positive
Psychology Center Dr. Budhrani graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania with
a Bachelor of Arts degree in biological basis of behavior and double minors in
English and chemistry. He credits his interdisciplinary undergraduate studies and
extracurricular activities, such as lacrosse and serving as a resident assistant,

with developing the leadership and problem-solving skills that have benefited his
career. “Studying English made me better able to think outside of the box and
look at viewpoints in a different way,” reflects Dr. Budhrani. “It also made me a
better communicator. I have been able to translate difficult subjects in science
and medicine into something people can better understand.”
Dr. Budhrani recently served as the chief executive officer of Innovation Health,
a first of its kind payer-provider partnership between CVS-Aetna and one of the
largest health systems in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area, INOVA Health
System. In addition to his roles in the hospital settings, Dr. Budhrani also founded
one of the first national end-to-end telemedicine solutions companies, CareClix
Telemedicine, and prior to that, a regional urgent care system, PrimeMed Urgent
Care Systems, which operated urgent care facilities throughout the metropolitan
Washington, DC area. He also served as the first Chief Medical Officer of the
Affordable Care Act health plan, Evergreen Health Care, for the State of Maryland.
His medical degree and Master of Public Health are from The George Washington
University, where he was a 2021 recipient of the School’s Distinguished Alumni
Award for his exemplary service during the pandemic. He completed his
residency training in emergency medicine at the Tufts University School of
Medicine in Massachusetts.

The University of Pennsylvania’s founder, Benjamin Franklin, knew the
Wenli Zhao importance of education. At the age of 10, in 1716, his formal education ended
Victoria Qi Wen Zheng when his father took him out of school to become a chandler’s apprentice,
Shuning Zhong learning to make soap and candles. Young Ben disliked the work and eventually
was apprenticed as a printer to his brother James, who brought a printing press

While he learned the printing trade, Franklin borrowed books from the apprentice
MASTER OF ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES booksellers he came to know in Boston, his hometown. He was known to skip
Kaila Beatriz Cantens meals in order to buy books of his own. He taught himself not only grammar,
Bryan Cashman arithmetic, and history, but several foreign languages, which served him well in
Kyle Christopher Legacion his later years when he represented the fledgling United States government as
ambassador to France.

The student of today who has had to interrupt, or never had the chance to
begin, a college education—or who seeks further study in professional master’s
MASTER OF LIBERAL ARTS programs—has the option of earning an Ivy League degree through the University
