Long summer days packed with excitement and challenges. Leisurely star-lit nights shared around a campfire. The overnights spent at Girl Scout camp are consistently cited as girls’ favorite memories of their Girl Scout years. Resident camps Ehawee and Black Hawk are accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). Accreditation is earned only after successfully meeting ACA’s high standards during an extensive review. These strict requirements are recognized nationally. Additionally, all camps including Brandenburg, White Pines Ranch, Eagle Bluff and Stronghold Camp meet safety standards set forth by Girl Scouts of the USA and county and state regulations. 4 gsbadgerland.org

HERE’S A NEW TOOL FOR PARENTS: Introducing “Levels” An easy way to assess how adventurous each camp will be At Girl Scouts, all programming is ‘progressive’. That means the activities and experiences build on each other - as she gains new knowledge or a new skill she then is ready to take the next step and ‘progress’ to a higher level of activity or experience. In the Girl Scout Camp World, the lingo for this is Outdoor Experience Progression. In a nutshell, it means that your girl may be ready for a Level 1 experience or Level 3 or even a Level 5. You are the expert on your girl and her level of adventurousness; use the Level Guide as a tool to help determine which camp is right for her. Review the chart below to help you gauge which level camps your girl is ready to tackle. All the programs in this Camp Book are assigned a level. If you have questions about Camp Program Levels, please connect with us anytime: info@gsbadgerland.org. Resident & Sleepaway Camp Life Details Health and Safety Our camps meet stringent county, state and national standards. Camp Ehawee, our resident camp, is accredited by the American Camp Association meeting all safety guidelines. When your girl is at camp, a health supervisor is always on duty. Our Camp Staff All staff members go through an intense screening, selection and training process. Most of our camp counselors are college students and aspiring teachers and outdoor educators. Camp leadership staff are professionals eager to provide amazing opportunities for your girl. A big percentage of staff are former Girl Scout campers and some even come from overseas which is so exciting for the girls! Camp staff participate in two weeks of training covering topics like camper behavior and support, creating a safe space, outdoor activities, group dynamics, emergency procedures and much more. Cost of Camp | Same, Simplified Lower Prices! Again this summer, most overnight resident camps are $65 per night. That means a two-night camp is $130, a three-night camp is $195 and a five-night camp is $325. The cost of camp is subsidized by Badgerland Council. We firmly believe these overnight programs and experiences are important to the Girl Scout experience which is why we underwrite camp. Put simply, the cost of operating the camp program is much greater than the fee you pay. If you want to add a camp donation to help offset the full cost, you will have the option to do so when you register her for camp. And, because we want girls to experience camp, Campership scholarships are available to families in need. See details on page 38. She Can Earn Her Way to Camp With Cookies Girls are strongly encouraged to earn all or part of their way to camp through cookie and ‘in a nutshell’ sales. Paying for all or a portion of her camp program instills independence, pride and self-confidence. See more details about how she can earn Badgerland Bucks to pay for camp by selling cookies on page 38. Special Needs If your camper has special needs, including food allergies, health care or mobility limitations please notify us in advance. Badgerland Council will seek to accommodate special needs whenever possible but reserves the right to identify reasonable and prudent accommodations. What She’ll Eat Meals at camp are kid-friendly and healthy. A set menu is prepared for each meal offering balanced choices with a vegetarian option. Most meals are served family-style. Typical meals include chicken fingers, tacos and sloppy joes. And, of course, there are plenty of veggies, too! At Camp Ehawee, meals are served in Hope Lodge and at Brandenburg they are at Hilltop Lodge. You will have an opportunity before camp to communicate any food allergies or other special food needs for your campers. Who Attends Camp Girl Scout camp is for all girls in grades K-12. Girls who are not already members of Girl Scouts simply pay the $35 Girl Scout membership dues prior to camp registration. 8 gsbadgerland.org
