Transform Lives, One Wish At A Time A wish experience can be a game-changer for a child with a critical illness. This one belief guides us in everything we do at Make-A-Wish®. It inspires us to grant life-changing wishes for children going through so much. It compels us to be creative in exceeding the expectations of every wish kid. It drives us to make our donated resources go as far as possible. Most of all, it’s the founding principle of our vision to grant the wish of every eligible child. Wishes are more than just a nice thing. And they are far more than gifts, or singular events in time. Wishes impact everyone involved—wish kids, volunteers, donors, sponsors, medical professionals and communities. For wish kids, just the act of making their wish come true can give them the courage to comply with their medical treatments. Tens of thousands of volunteers, donors and supporters advance the Make-A-Wish vision to grant the wish of every child diagnosed with a critical illness. In the U.S. and its territories, a wish is granted every 34 minutes. 100% of the children who medically qualify as confirmed by their doctors receive a wish, so long as they are between the ages of 2½ and 18 at the time of their referral and have never received a prior wish from any wish-granting organization. Since the founding of Make-A-Wish® Wisconsin in 1984, more than 7,200 families have experienced the transformative power of a wish across the state. This year, more than 450 children are waiting to receive a wish. I wish to be a Construction Worker Meet Wish Dominic, 5 Kid Dominic De Pere, WI nervous system disease Dominic is a sweet 5-year-old boy from De Pere who was diagnosed with a severe neurological disease that causes frequent seizures. Dominic spends a lot of time visiting his doctors, in hospitals and going to therapy to manage his condition. Just two weeks before he poured concrete with Miron Construction team members, Dominic underwent surgery and he’s scheduled for more procedures in the months to come. After anticipating his wish day for months, Dominic hardly ate breakfast because he was so excited “to go to work,” his mom said. The day started with De Pere Mayor James Boyd giving Dominic a key to the city. From there, his royal treatment “The happiness and hope we got continued when a Miron truck picked Dominic up from his from this wish experience was home and headed to the construction site, escorted by his family and a long line of local police and fire vehicles.
