Guided Reading Task – ‘Rainforests’ Comprehension • Today, you are going to read about Rainforests. • This is helpful background information linked to our class book, ‘Journey to the River Sea’, which is, of course, set in the Amazon Rainforest. • There are three levels of challenge in the comprehension – pick your challenge! • The comprehension is with the resources on the class page. Don’t worry if you can’t print – read the text and questions on the screen and write down your answers. Don’t forget to check and correct!
Maths Live Lesson – 10.00-10.30am • Today, we are going to finish our work on adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators by looking at some word problems. • There are three levels of challenge on the worksheet in the resources section of the class page – 1, 2 and 3 – pick your challenge! (You can do more than one, if you like, or some questions from each of the three challenges.) • Don’t worry if you can’t print – work from the screen and write your answers on paper. • Join Miss Pickup live on Teams at 10.00-10.30am. • You will need: • A piece of paper • A pencil (and maybe a rubber?!) • A switched-on brain!
Maths – Adding and Subtracting Fractions with different denominators • Today in Maths, we are going to finish off our adding and subtracting fractions work by having a go at some word problems. • We are going to add and subtract fractions with different denominators, just like we’ve been doing all week. • You need to read the word problems carefully, and pick out the calculations that you need to do. • Write each calculation down separately, just the numbers, without the words to distract you.
Maths – Subtracting Fractions with denominators that are multiples • There are three levels of challenge on the main worksheet, getting harder from Challenge 1 to 3. • If you are a Year 3, start with Challenge 1. • If you are a Year 4, start with Challenge 2. • Challenge 3 is for super confident Year 4s only! (You will need to multiply both sets of fractions to make them the same number!) • If you are finding this a little tricky, don’t worry – there is another challenge, labelled Challenge A, which is further practise at subtracting fractions with like denominators, with missing number problems to do today, so have a go at that instead!

There are three levels of challenge to choose from. If you can, print out the sheets, as it is easier to cut and stick. If you can’t print, don’t worry – draw your own diagrams and copy out the correct sentences beside them to label each one correctly.
