Earn Academic Credit AND Work Experience by Participating in the Spring Externship Program Are you interested in gaining academic credit while obtaining practical work experience during the Spring of 2023? Would you like to have one less final exam? Would you like to make yourself more marketable for a post-graduate job? If so, consider participating in the Spring 2023 externship program. The first externship is worth 4 credits (2 for the class and 2 for the work hours). If you have already participated in the externship program, future externships are worth 2 credits each (work only; no formal class). I will accept externship applications until November 15, 2021. I have placements in all practice areas, in private firms, government agencies and with members of the judiciary. I have well over 100 potential placements in several geographic areas. There is something for everyone. Note: At this time, all placements will be on-site (not remote). If you are interested in learning more, obtaining an externship application and discussing career building options, please contact me sooner rather than later. Although the November 15th deadline is months away, students are served on a first-come first-serve basis. Students cannot be registered for externships until I have approved placements for them. This takes time. Classes fill up early and I cannot accept applications once there are enough students to fill each class section. 11

The Next Touro Law Goods and Services Auction is Coming Up on November 10, 2022, and We Need your Help! The Auction is a 20+ year tradition at Touro Law, with all funds directly benefitting our Summer Public Interest Fellowships for students just like you. Last March we were able to give out 10 full fellowships, allowing students to gain experience in pro bono work and help our community. The Office of Advancement is looking for student volunteers to solicit auction items (new items only) and experiences. Maybe your village is filled with great restaurants and shops that may be willing to contribute gift cards. Perhaps you know of a place that provides fun experiences like axe throwing or wine tasting, that could provide free passes. All of these would be wonderful items to put up for bids! The November auction will also be virtual, so you can attend from anywhere. We’d love to have you join in on the fun! Just look out for marketing leading up to the event for details. If you would like to volunteer and/or would like to pick up donation forms, please send an email to auction@tourolaw.edu. Physical items can be dropped off at the Law Center, Suite 402. 14

SHS assistants are available to answer the questions that other students—especially those new to law school— may have, and to refer them, when appropriate, to administrators, faculty or others with the necessary expertise and authority to help. To reach the SHS assistants, email TLC_SHS@listserv.touro.edu.
