2021 FINANCI AL HE AR INGS Financial Analyst Ranking SV ENSK IM AGE & FINANCI AL HE AR INGS Ranking of Financial Journalists
Introduction This survey is the 25th consecutive annual ranking of financial analysts and journalists working in the financial sector in Sweden. The survey respondents include Sweden’s main institutional investors and listed companies. The number of respondents in each category as well as the response rate are shown in the description of each survey. Ranking professionals can be a very sensitive mat- ter. The presentation of the methodology used in the survey is therefore as open and transparent as possible. The trust of all the parties involved is a cornerstone of the survey, and the methods it uses must be credible. This ranking has become a benchmark for the financial industry in Sweden. Ranking financial analysts is nothing new, and most developed financial markets measure analysts’ performances. However, it is unusual to rank journalists and the media. We have chosen to do so from the perspective of financial analysts, investors and senior corporate executives. The survey also includes a rating of the presentations listed given to the financial community. The respondents rate the companies in terms of reach, frequen- cy and continuity. The rating does not concern quality of the actual presentation. Institutions Ranking – Swedish Analyst Pressrelease: Resume of Financial Analyst Ranking 2021, compiled by Financial Hearings The survey covers sixty swedish institutions. Carnegie took the top position, for the 6th year in row and we have a new first place in the individual category, taking over after Lena Österberg 6 consecutive wins.Lena is moving to take care of the ESG introduction in the whole firm and has left the position to Kristofer Liljeberg, who keeps its position at the top. Second is ABG Sundal Collier, this year together with SEB Equity Research who manage to do a little bit stronger ranking for every year. In the third spot we have Nordea and Danske Bank in a shared position. Fourth place DnB who was ranked among the top four for the first time 2019, and now they share the place with Handelsbanken. The Swedish Market has developed to 7 Firms from the “Original 6” (Famous from NHL on the Ice Hockey Market) due to their current dominance on the Swedish Research Market. On the next level Pareto Securities, Kepler Cheuvreux and especially Erik Penser start to really close the gap and has been really active. Erik Penser has expanded their Research, but still more stock picking strategy and together with Redeye they focus mostly on the Micro Cap market. Finally you could see signs from UBS restart in the Swedish Market. The Market has slowly adapted both Mifid Rules as well as the new Virtual World forced by the global Covid 19 situation. We have also seen a growing market for “Sponsored Corporate Analysis” for a couple of years now. Still we could not give you exact figures of that but Companies from 100 Million SEK up to over 10 billions SEK seem to buy these services. Around Erik Penser and Redeye, also some of the big firms has started to offer this service but here the market seems also to be split in two tiers. This year the first individual top spot was taken by the Chief of Carnegie Kristofer Liljeberg and his Team mate Erik Hultgård, both with a background in the Health Care sector. Second is Magnus Andersson from ABG Sundal Collier who have dominated the Banking Sector for years. This year we have no levels on the rest of the top ten list, however we add people on the top list by, winning a sector, or reaching at least 100 points. In the survey, we also add Christer Linde, ABG Sundal Collier, Tobias Kaj, ABG Sundal Collier, Derek Laliberte, ABG Sundal Collier, Olof Cederholm, ABG Sundal Collier,Lena Österberg, Carnegie, Pedrag Savi- novic, Carnegie, Fredrik Cyon, Carnegie, Johan Wettergen, Carnegie, Kenneth Toll, Carnegie, Niklas Ekman, Carnegie, Björn Enarsson, Danske Bank, Fredrik Litell, Danske Bank, Hampus Engellau, Handelsbanken, Mattias Sundling, Handelsban- ken, Daniel Djurberg, Handelsbanken, Johanna Ahlqvist, SEB Equity Research, Linus Larsson, SEB Equity Research, Erik Gol- rang, SEB Enskilda, Mikael Sarwe, Nordea, Agnieszka Vilela, Nordea, Christian Kopfer, Nordea Roland Jonsson Memory prize for the Rookie of the Year Researcher, who receives a Sjöö Sandström “Corporate Watch, Björn Davegårdh Memory for an extra ordinary Journalist.
