FIAC - 47th edition FIAC AT THE GRAND PALAIS Grand Palais, Paris In 2020, FIAC will take place at the Grand Palais. Vernissage Wednesday, October 21st In 2021 and 2022, due to comprehensive APPLICATION Public opening renovation works in the Grand Palais, FIAC will take place in the Grand Palais Éphémère, GUIDELINES From Thursday, October 22nd to Sunday, October 25th Application deadline designed by the international architecture firm Wilmotte & Associés, situated on the Champ-de-Mars, near the Eiffel Tower in the Wednesday, March 25th 2020 heart of Paris. The Grand Palais Éphémère will house the major art, fashion and sporting events traditionally held in the Nave of the Grand Palais. All applications must be filled out on our online application form at application.fiac.com. GENERAL SECTOR FIAC’s General Sector will feature some 190 galleries specialising in modern and contemporary art presenting a balanced panorama of artistic creation from modern masters to the most emerging trends. Editors may apply to the General Sector of FIAC. LAFAYETTE SECTOR The Lafayette Sector showcases ten young contemporary art galleries. The galleries will benefit from the financial support of the Groupe Galeries Lafayette, FIAC’s official sponsor. Galleries applying to the Lafayette Sector may also apply to the General Sector. Galleries may submit only one project for each sector. FIAC’s General Sector will feature some 190 galleries specialising in modern and contemporary art, divided into several spaces: • Under the glass roof of the Grand Palais, the Nave, hosting 100 galleries; • On the ground floor with direct access to the Nave, the Galeries Nationales (North-East Gallery, North Gallery & North-West Gallery) hosting about 50 galleries; • Located on the first floor of the Grand Palais, the Upper Galleries (South-East GRAND PALAIS Gallery, South Gallery & South-West Gallery) presenting about 50 galleries. BOOTHS’ DIMENSIONS & PRICES • Exhibition space dimensions: from 18 m² to 80 m² • Booth rental rate per sqm: Introduced in 2018, FIAC continues to apply its new pricing system, which adjusts the rates to the booth sizes, in order to support emerging and mid-size galleries. GENERAL S booth From 18 m² to 21.99 m² €550 excl. tax SECTOR M booth From 22 m² to 44.99 m² €580 excl. tax L booth From 45 m² to 69.99 m² €640 excl. tax XL booth More than 70 m² €670 excl. tax SURCHARGES FOR EXHIBITION SPACES LOCATED IN THE NAVE Following surcharges will apply on booths located in the Nave: > Sqm surcharges : An increase of the price per sqm to €640 excl. tax ( i.e. an additional €90 per sqm excl. tax for S booths and an additional €60 per sqm excl. tax for M booths) > Corner surcharges: - An increase of 4% shall apply to corner locations situated on alleys that are less than 5 m wide - An increase of 8% shall apply to corner locations situated on alleys that are more than 5 m wide If one of these surcharges concerns the space proposed to you, its exact amount will be specified when you receive your stand area and location. VAT ON BOOTHS’ PRICES VAT is to be paid by the beneficiary of the service, indicated in the gallery’s application. VAT applies as follows: • French galleries will be charged with French VAT. • EU galleries providing a valid EU VAT number are exempt from French VAT. • Galleries from outside the EU are exempt from VAT. BOOTH SHARING You are allowed to share an exhibition space on the condition that each gallery is accepted by the selection committee according to the normal application procedure. Each gallery must return their application request individually and pay the application fee. GENERAL BOOTH LOCATION > Galleries are not allowed to choose their exhibition zone (Nave, Upper Galleries, Galeries Nationales) SECTOR when applying. > If your application is accepted by the Selection Committee, the exhibition zone where the booth of the gallery will be located will be announced with the results in May. > The precise booth location, its exact dimensions and where applicable the different surcharges in the Nave will be notified to the gallery in July. In case of acceptance, our inability to satisfy a special request of stand surface and/or stand location and/ or exhibition zone for whatever reason does not grant you the right to cancel your participation nor obtain any price reduction or compensation of any kind. © Marc Domage 5
Launched in 2009, the Lafayette Sector is an expression of the joint desire of FIAC and the Groupe Galeries Lafayette to constantly renew their commitment to the emerging talents of the international art scene. The Lafayette Sector provides significant financial support for ten French and foreign galleries selected by an independent jury on the basis of the quality of their exhibition programme and a project proposed specifically for FIAC 2020. Lafayette The selected galleries will show in the South Gallery on the first floor of the Grand Palais (Upper Galleries/ Alley G). sector APPLICATION CRITERIA The Lafayette Sector application criteria are as follows: • Galleries must have been founded during or after 2010; • The exhibition project may consist of a solo or a dialogue between two artists. In all cases, the project must present only emerging artists; • It is only possible to participate twice. BOOTH RENTAL RATE • Exhibition space dimensions: 25 m² - booths are usually 5m x 5m. This studio is booked during the whole duration of the fair, including the set-up and dismantling. ONLINE APPLICATION The online application requires you to complete the following information at www.application.fiac.com: 1. General Information APPLICATION • Gallery contact details and billing information. 2. Gallery Presentation : & SELECTION • The history of the gallery • The list of art fair participations since 2017 PROCESS • The list of exhibitions held at the gallery in 2019 and in 2020 3. List of the gallery’s artists 4. For the General Sector and/or the Lafayette Sector: • A description of what you would like to show at FIAC 2019 • The list of artists exhibited • A minimum of 5 JPEG images • Requested stand size (for the General Sector) 5. Payment of the application fees 6. Upon completion of all of the sections, you will be able to download your “Application Form” in PDF format. The “Application Form” summarises your application as well as the regulations of FIAC. A copy of this document must be signed and returned by email (exhibitors@fiac.com) by Wednesday, March 25th 2020. SELECTION PROCESS AND ATTRIBUTION OF PLACEMENTS • Application does not automatically result in admission to FIAC. Admission is decided by the FIAC Selection Committee or the Selection Committee for the Lafayette Sector. Only one stand will be offered for each gallery selected by the Selection Committees. • The location of the exhibition space (Nave, Upper Galleries or Galeries Nationales – see however restrictions page 3) attributed to each gallery is decided during the Selection Committee. • Results will be notified to the galleries in May 2020. • If your application is accepted by the Selection Committee, you will receive notification of your stand attribution and its location within the Grand Palais. Every effort will be made to satisfy your initial request; however, owing to availability and technical constraints, you may be offered a different exhibition space. In this case, the total amount due will be recalculated. Our inability to satisfy a special request of stand surface area and/or stand location for whatever reason, does not grant you the right to cancel your participation nor obtain any price reduction or compensation of any kind.
