Budget Special € 2018 Council Budget Philomena Poole, the Chief Executive of RESIDENTS dlr County Council, brought the draft budget • Promotion of quality of life initiatives to Council in November. News dlr staff profile Sinéad Dunne dlr FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT Sinéad joined dlr in September 2016 having spent eight years with South Dublin County Council. Before that she held accountancy roles with Musgraves, The Institute of Public Administration (IPA) and Accenture. She completed her degree in Mathematics and History in UCD before pursuing an Accountancy qualification. What I do? My job is to ensure the financial wellbeing of the council. Be that through the preparation of a balanced revenue budget or the provision of a robust capital programme. It’s important that budgets are balanced, not only in financial terms and against a backdrop of value for money and accountability, but also in consideration of the needs of the various stakeholders within the county - citizens, businesses and tourists alike. Aside from ensuring adequate financial resources and good governance are in place, I interact closely with Council departments, supporting them in their delivery of projects and services. These include the Cherrywood SDZ development, the provision of housing schemes and the establishment of the new Music Generation programme. Arts & Library Events What’s on in dlr LexIcon We’ve lots taking place in the Municipal Gallery, dlr LexIcon organised by dlr Arts Office. You’ll find the Gallery at the back of level 3 (Haigh Terrace entrance). Arrival – dlr Open Exhibition Until 21 January 2018 This exhibition presents a huge range of pieces by artists connected to the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown area. It’s curated by Gemma Tipton, journalist and writer, with the theme this year being Arrival. It’s a great opportunity to see the work of talented local artists and a chance to get involved in some of the events that include workshops and talks, all of which are organised as part of the programme. Double Vision DIANA COPPERWHITE 3 February – 25 March 2018 The Double Vision event sees sisters Diana and Shirley Copperwhite exhibiting together for the first time. Diana is a painter with a practice that includes wall drawings, installation and painting. Her shows this year included The Last Picture Show at the Thomas Jaeckel Gallery in New York and Crooked Orbit at the Kevin Kavanagh Gallery in Dublin. Shirley is a designer with over thirty Starry, Starry Night years experience, having worked with companies in Germany, Canada and the UK where her designs have been used on fabric and textiles. dlr LexIcon is delighted to host a spectacular photo exhibition, Images of Starlight on Level 3 until 5 January 2018.
