GI IMAGING UPDATE ORGANISED BY THE BIR SCOTTISH BRANCH 26 February 2021 CPD: 3 credits This half-day virtual event will cover various aspects of gastrointestinal imaging including diagnosis of common pathological conditions through utilising different imaging modalities. It will highlight several new diagnostic strategies and imaging modalities related to the gastrointestinal system. It is suitable for radiologists – both consultants and trainees – as well as for allied health professionals with an interest in the area such as radiographers. Biographies Dr Khalid Ali Dr Khalid Ali is a Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. He graduated with distinction from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and completed radiology training in the West of Scotland prior to completing a fellowship in Musculoskeletal radiology in Oxford. He has an interest in trauma, sarcoma, sports imaging and intervention. Dr Ali is involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training, has been a member of the BIR Scottish branch committee as a trainee and became branch lead in 2017. Dr Abdullah Al-Adhami Dr Abdullah Al-adhami is a consultant radiologist an interest in gastrointestinal imaging. He graduated from Edinburgh University in 2006, completed radiology training in west of Scotland, before taking up a consultant post in Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Has been providing the radiology input for the regional weekly pancreatic cancer MDT for the west of Scotland for the past for past 6 years. Dr John Gilmour Dr John Gilmour works as a Consultant Radiologist in the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh and St. John’s Hospital, Livingston. He undertook both his undergraduate training and postgraduate Human Anatomy MSc studies at Edinburgh University. His core radiology training was completed in Newcastle upon Tyne, with a return to South East Scotland for completion. Dr Gilmour has a particular interest in lower GI imaging, having contributed to both the regional IBD meeting and local surgical meetings. Dr Cindy Chew Dr Cindy Chew is a Consultant Radiologist. Biographies Dr Li Wong Dr Li Wong is a Consultant Radiologist working between the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh and St John’s University Hospital, Livingston. She graduated with distinction from the University of Nottingham and undertook basic surgical training in Yorkshire as well as membership with the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh prior to beginning radiology training in South East Scotland. Her specialist interest is in gastrointestinal and oncological imaging, with a particular focus of luminal gastrointestinal imaging of the small bowel and colon. She is involved in postgraduate teaching and has been a member of the SCAN (South East Scotland Cancer Network) Colorectal Group and a member of Colorectal cancer and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Multidisciplinary Team for NHS Lothian since her appointment as a Consultant Radiologist in 2012. Dr Su Reddy Dr Su Reddy graduated from Edinburgh University in 2002. Following basic surgical training and a period of research in microbiology, she completed radiology training in South-East Scotland. Following which she took up a consultant post at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. Her interests are in GI, GU and oncology imaging and intervention, where she has helped develop non-cancer related GI intervention and the local IR M and M. She holds various management roles with a primary interest in training. Dr Kirsty Armstrong Dr Kirsty Armstrong is a Consultant Radiologist at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow. She graduated from Glasgow University, completing basic surgical and radiology training schemes in Mersey becoming a consultant at St Helens& Knowsley University NHS trust - moving to QEUH, Glasgow in 2015. She is very involved in radiology training within the region and is involved in local under/ postgraduate teaching. Her interests include GI radiology, particularly liver and bowel imaging with regional MDT participation. Dr Subra Viswanathan Dr Subra Viswanathan has been a Consultant Radiologist since 2006 and has a special interest in all aspects of gastrointestinal imaging. Subra has a secondary interest in clinical trial reporting and contrast medium. Glasgow Royal Infirmary is a tertiary referral centre for Colorectal surgery, Pelvic exenteration,Pancreatico-biliary surgery, Inflammatory bowel disease and hepatology. Dr Subra Viswanathan is also the Medical Chairperson for contrast National NHS Procurement Scotland.
