Criminal Register Indexes (HO 27) The Home Office recorded persons charged with indictable offences in England and Wales between 1805 and 1892 in the registers now held as Series HO 27 at the National Archives. These are now being indexed. Full information from the registers is provided: names, aliases, court, offence and sentence/acquittal; also a variety of statistics showing numbers of (alleged) offenders and ratios within the population. Around 35% of those recorded were not actually found guilty and these indexes give a tremendous insight into the social conditions of the time. Militia Musters, 1781-82 (WO 13) www.fhindexes.co.uk/militia.htm The Militia Act of 1757 provided for men to serve in the militia at home in order to counter any threat arising while the majority of the regular army was stationed abroad. Lists of eligible men in each parish were known as militia ballot lists and from these, the men actually chosen appeared in the militia lists which are often to be found in county record offices. At the National Archives, however, are the muster and pay lists in series WO 13. These record the men actually serving and the indexes provide details for each man at the three or four musters during the two year period for which records survive. County regiments, although recruited locally, often served away from home and these indexes tell precisely where, under whom and on what dates the men were mustered. 3½” disk - £1.99 each (while stocks last) Anglesey Glamorganshire Northants & Rutland Bedfordshire Gloucestershire North Northumberland Berkshire Gloucestershire South Nottinghamshire Brecknockshire Hampshire North Oxfordshire Buckinghamshire Hampshire South & IOW Pembrokeshire Caernarvonshire Herefordshire Radnorshire Cambridgeshire Hertfordshire Shropshire Cardiganshire Huntingdonshire Somerset Carmarthenshire Kent East Staffordshire Cheshire Kent West Suffolk East Cornwall Lancashire Suffolk West Cumberland Leicestershire Surrey Denbighshire Lincolnshire North Sussex Derbyshire Lincolnshire South Warwickshire Devon East Merionethshire Westmoreland Devon North Middlesex East Wiltshire Devon South Middlesex West Worcestershire Dorset Middlesex Westminster Yorkshire East Durham Monmouthshire Yorkshire North 1 Essex East Montgomeryshire Yorkshire West 1 Essex West Norfolk East Yorkshire West 2 Flintshire Norfolk West Now also available on CD - £9.99 each: Volume 1 - South-West Volume 2 - South-East ZOOM Volume 3 - East IN! => Volume 4 - Central Volume 5 - Wales Volume 6 - North A Surname Master Index for the whole series is included on each volume and is available on separate CD at only £4.99 www.fhindexes.co.uk Family History Indexes March 2019 www.fhindexes.co.uk
