FALCON II TM Wide-Field Hyperspectral Imaging System Unique, Easy-To-Use Software for Automated System Control and Sophisticated Image and Data Analysis Produce Chemical Images that Detail Material Morphology, Composition, Structure and Concentration Modular Configuration with the Ability to Add Other Imaging Modes Such as Near-IR and Fluorescence
Get The FALCON IITM Advantage The FALCON II is the only Wide-field Raman Chemical Imaging System optimized for both chemical imaging and spectroscopy. It employs high throughput Liquid Crystal Tunable Filter (LCTF) technology and Electron Multiplication Charge Coupled Device (EMCCD) cameras for Wide-field Hyperspectral Imaging. This liquid crystal based imaging method enables users to obtain simultaneous spatial and chemical information. The system is also equipped with a separate channel for performing standard dispersive spectroscopic measurements. This combination of powerful analytical techniques combined with optional Hyperspectral Near-Infrared (NIR) or Visible/Fluorescence Imaging are a few examples of how FALCON II can provide your complete microscopic chemical imaging solution. What is Raman Chemical Imaging? Raman Chemical Imaging (RCI) combines digital imaging and Raman spectroscopy to provide chemical images that reveal material morphology, composition, structure and concentration. Chemical Imaging takes advantage of the Features Advantages user’s natural visual senses and perception to make complex Liquid Crystal Tunable • Rapid imaging analysis more intuitive and straightforward. Filter (LCTF) based • Capture the full field-of- The FALCON II has diffraction-limited spatial resolution imaging view at once approaching 0.35 microns when using 100x magnification. • Chemically specific The spatial resolution of point mapping systems are imaging typically 1-2 microns and ultimately limited by the laser • High spatial resolution beam spot size. However, with a FALCON II system • High spectral resolution every pixel in the chemical image contains an associated • Nondestructive spectrum for chemical identification. • Little to no sample preparation Real time imaging • View dynamic systems Save Time & Money • Target specific chemical entities FALCON II generates spatially and spectrally accurate images with increased speed compared to point mapping systems. Data Analysis Example: Ingredient-Specific (A) Particle Sizing of a Nasal Spray API Particle sizing techniques based on laser scattering, cascade impaction or optical image analysis cannot discriminate between particles of API and those of an excipient or a surfactant. Multi-stage cascade impaction followed by extraction and HPLC analysis is an option but can be extremely time consuming and labor-intensive and is not reproducible. Consequently, the development of an efficient ingredient- (B) (C) specific approach is essential for ensuring that all ingredients ______ fall into the proper size range, particularly during the early 40mm stage of product development. The FALCON II system efficiently collects millions of spectrally unique data points at sub-micron spatial Figure 1. (A) Brightfield Reflectance/Raman fusion image resolution.
