Athletics CSUB is an NCAA Division I University, successfully competing in the Western Athletic Conference since 2012. CSUB will join the Big West Conference in 2020. Men: Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, Swimming and Diving, Track and Field, Wrestling. Women: Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Cross Country, Golf, Soccer, Softball, Swimming and Diving, Track and Field, Volleyball. Walter W. Stiern Library The Walter W. Stiern Library is the center for intellectual engagement on campus. Students, faculty, and staff are provided with a wide variety of resources, such as group study rooms, functional study spaces, in-class presentations, research skills courses, historical exhibits, public programming, online access to thousands of books and articles, and print collections totaling nearly half a million volumes! In addition to offering computers, printing, and Wi-Fi access, the library is also home to Walter’s Coffee and Snack Bar, the 24-hour study room, a tutoring center, the Media Lab, and the IT help desk. The library’s “Walter Presents” events series has welcomed many engaging programs to CSUB, including the annual Writer In Residence, Local Poets Reading, and California Writers Series. Bakersfield Business Conference Over the years, the CSUB grounds and the Bakersfield Business Conference have hosted former presidents, world leaders, Olympians and sports heroes. Since 1985, the Conference has continued to grow to the successful, world-class event that it has become today, with over 9,000 people in attendance. Past speakers have been some of the best in the entertainment industry, including music superstars, Reba McEntire, Dionne Warwick and Sheena Easton, as well as comedians Jay Leno, Phyllis Diller and Bob Hope. CSUB Athletics Annual BBQ This annual event benefits the Roadrunner Scholarship Fund, which provides financial support to talented and worthy student-athletes as they meet the rigors of academic life and NCAA Division I competition.
