Beedie Luminaries Beedie Luminaries is a social-profit enterprise designed to help remove barriers to education and provide wrap-around support for promising students who are facing financial adversity. Students who are smart, but constrained by circumstance. Students who are ready to rise above their circumstances and achieve their dreams. Scholarships available of up to $40,000 per student in a 4-year undergraduate degree and up to $15,000 per student in a 2-year college or trade-school diploma. Cause We Care Foundation Single Mothers Support Fund The Cause We Care Foundation Single Mothers Support Fund is a holistic fund supporting single mothers who are restricted by financial barriers. The Single Mothers Support Fund is intended to assist women to strengthen their educational and economic capacity, and will provide financial assistance for women wishing to gain new, or update existing, skills and qualifications with accessible funds not provided by government or any other agency. It will remove funding gaps and barriers by providing unique wrap-around financial support for single mothers determined to advance out of poverty and lead a life of economic independence. CLC/UWCC Post-Secondary Scholarship The Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) Young Workers Program and United Way Centraide Canada (UWCC) are pleased present the annual CLC/UWCC Post-Secondary Scholarship. This scholarship, in the amount of $2,500, will support a young activist who is starting their first year of full- time post-secondary study at a Canadian public post-secondary institution in September. MoveUP is affiliated to the CLC and any current MoveUP member, or child/dependent of a member, that is 30-years- old or under as of September 1 may be eligible. Irving K. Barber International Scholarships These international scholarships are designed to support students from BC in studying abroad. Successful applicants must clearly demonstrate academic merit as well as significant involvement in their community and/or school. Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms Essay Contest The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (www.jccf.ca) is a Canadian legal organization and federally registered charity that defends citizens’ fundamental freedoms under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, through pro bono legal representation and through educating Canadians about the free society. The JCCF hosts an annual student essay contest. All students enrolled at any level of post-secondary education in Canada are eligible to submit an essay. Lotus Light Charity Scholarship The Lotus Light Charity Society’s annual scholarship program has recognized some of our brightest and most community-conscious students since 1993. The scholarship recipients had been achieved excellency in academic performance and at the same time actively involved in community volunteer programs in local, national, or international level. Every year, hundreds of bright students across Canada apply to this prestige charity scholarship. The purpose of these grants is to provide financial resources for the completion of academic degrees to women who are enrolled in designated universities. Since 1981 many MMMF grantees studying at universities in the US and Canada are from over 70 developing countries, but we seek to provide financial support to more women students. Injuries must be catastrophic or severe and have had a significant impact on the applicants’ lives. Proof of injury and relation to impaired driving will be required. McCall MacBain Scholarships The McCall MacBain Scholarships at McGill are Canada’s first leadership-driven scholarship for master’s and professional degree students. They represent an investment in students who are developing expertise in their respective fields, have a track record of taking initiative, and seek to collaborate with others to understand and address important problems and challenges. Pacific Salmon Foundation Stewardship Bursary The Pacific Salmon Foundation Stewardship Community Bursaries are awarded to students in BC whom are dedicated to the conservation and restoration of Pacific salmon and their habitat. Start Proud Student Leadership Scholarship Start Proud is committed to recognizing excellence in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ+) student community across Canada as an opportunity to help students excel in their career. To support this commitment, Start Proud awards two scholarships each year to successful student leaders with bright futures contributing to their school/community through leadership on campus, entrepreneurial activities or advancing social causes. awards will be awarded at $2,500 each. The Start Proud Student Leadership Scholarships are available to LGBTQ+ post-secondary students who are enrolled for the Fall academic term in an accredited Canadian post-secondary program of study. Awards for Students in the Faculty of Arts & Sciences BC Tech Scholarship Investing in the future of the local workforce is one of the keys to success for the BC technology sector; this includes the students, programs, and institutions that help make that happen. Established in 2005, the industry-funded BC Tech Scholarship is proud to provide grants to students who have a proven passion for technology, a desire to leave a mark in the tech sector, and are pursuing a post-secondary education in a technology-related program. Eligible disciplines include Engineering, Computer Science, Entrepreneurship, Biotech, Cleantech, IT & Applied Technology, Business & Technology Management, Product Management, Digital Media, and other technical programs. Howe Memorial Foundation is offering up to two undergraduate scholarships (one to a male student and one to a female student) valued at $7,500 CAD for students enrolled in an engineering program in a Canadian university. The candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents who have completed the first year of an engineering program. ISEE Western Canadian Chapter - Dick Shaw Memorial Scholarship The scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student attending a college or university in Western Canada who is studying a subject with some relevance to the non-military use of explosives or blasting. We are flexible about the subject providing the applicant has an interest in pursuing a career that could involve blasting. Students may be at any level. The applicant does not need to have any link to the Chapter or explosives industry and does not need to come from Western Canada, providing he or she is studying here. Musicians’ Dream Aid Scholarship Musicians’ Dream Aid is proud to offer an annual scholarship for young musicians. The MDA Scholarship must be used towards the tuition of a music school or program. Vancouver Opera Guild Career Development Grant - Singers The Vancouver Opera Guild will disburse a $6,000 Career Development Grant. This Grant will be available to Canadian Citizens and those with Landed Immigrant status between the ages of 20 and 33 years.
