BCGEU Scholarships
The BC Government and Service Employees’ Union is one of the largest and most diverse unions in British
Columbia. They are offering $60,000 in scholarships to full-time and part-time post-secondary and higher

$1,000.

Beedie Luminaries
Beedie Luminaries is a social-profit enterprise designed to help remove barriers to education and provide
wrap-around support for promising students who are facing financial adversity. Students who are smart,
but constrained by circumstance. Students who are ready to rise above their circumstances and achieve
their dreams. Scholarships available of up to $40,000 per student in a 4-year undergraduate degree and up
to $15,000 per student in a 2-year college or trade-school diploma.

Cause We Care Foundation Single Mothers Support Fund
The Cause We Care Foundation Single Mothers Support Fund is a holistic fund supporting single mothers
who are restricted by financial barriers. The Single Mothers Support Fund is intended to assist women to
strengthen their educational and economic capacity, and will provide financial assistance for women
wishing to gain new, or update existing, skills and qualifications with accessible funds not provided by
government or any other agency. It will remove funding gaps and barriers by providing unique wrap-around
financial support for single mothers determined to advance out of poverty and lead a life of economic
independence.

CHF BC Scholarship Fund
The Co-Operative Housing Federation of BC works to support the community of housing co-ops in BC. The
purpose of the CHF BC Scholarship Fund is to support the educational goals of co-op members, particularly
young co-op members who are already making a contribution to their communities. Scholarships can be
awarded to students graduating from high school and planning to enrol in a college, university, or
apprenticeship program students already enrolled in a college, university or apprenticeship program; and
students returning to school after a break in their education.

CLC/UWCC Post-Secondary Scholarship
The Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) Young Workers Program and United Way Centraide Canada (UWCC)
are pleased present the annual CLC/UWCC Post-Secondary Scholarship.
This scholarship, in the amount of $2,500, will support a young activist who is starting their first year of full-
time post-secondary study at a Canadian public post-secondary institution in September. MoveUP is
affiliated to the CLC and any current MoveUP member, or child/dependent of a member, that is 30-years-
old or under as of September 1 may be eligible.

Commissionaires BC Bursary Opportunities
Commissionaires BC is a Canadian not-for-profit organization and one of 16 divisions across the country
that offers a wide range of security services. Everything we do to protect our community and country
supports those who serve and have served. Therefore, we aim to provide meaningful employment to
former members of the Canadian Forces and RCMP. Must be a person, an immediate family member or
descendant of a person who works or has worked for Commissionaires BC, OR who served in the Canadian
forces, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, or the Canadian Merchant Marine. Consideration will also be

Consolidated Credit Counseling Services of Canada Scholarship
Consolidated Credit is proud to be offering a Scholarship Program to help students struggling with debt!
This is a great opportunity for students to pay off some of their student loan debt and cover the costs of

Irving K. Barber Transfer Scholarship
The Ike Barber Transfer Scholarship program is open to students who after completing two years of study

These scholarships are awarded woman and Aboriginal Women on the basis of academic achievement and
demonstrated commitment to the pursuit of a career in the Technology sector. Candidates must have

Mathematics and are continuing their studies at a BC public post-secondary institution.

James Craig Reid Memorial Scholarship
Given to one student who graduated from a District 69 secondary school or lived in District 69 for at least
three years. Candidates should be entering their fourth year of study or beyond in a Canadian university
academic program. Preference will be given to candidates specializing in Music, Fine Arts, Liberal Arts or
Education. The award will be paid and applied directly to tuition and book fees.

Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms Essay Contest
The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (www.jccf.ca) is a Canadian legal organization and federally
registered charity that defends citizens’ fundamental freedoms under the Canadian Charter of Rights and
Freedoms, through pro bono legal representation and through educating Canadians about the free society.
The JCCF hosts an annual student essay contest. All students enrolled at any level of post-secondary

Live Your Dream Award
The Soroptimist Live Your Dream Awards assists women who provide the primary source of financial
support for their families by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills and
employment prospects. There is an annual $10,000 available for award recipients at your Local Club level-
Soroptimists of North and West Vancouver. If you are a woman providing the primary financial support for

Lotus Light Charity Scholarship
The Lotus Light Charity Society’s annual scholarship program has recognized some of our brightest and most
community-conscious students since 1993. The scholarship recipients had been achieved excellency in
academic performance and at the same time actively involved in community volunteer programs in local,
national, or international level. Every year, hundreds of bright students across Canada apply to this prestige
charity scholarship.

The Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund (MMMF)
Since 1981, the MMMF, a US based 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity has awarded over 285 education
grants to women from developing countries who demonstrate a commitment to improving the wellbeing
of women and children in the developing world. The purpose of these grants is to provide financial
resources for the completion of academic degrees to women who are enrolled in designated
universities. Since 1981 many MMMF grantees studying at universities in the US and Canada are from over
70 developing countries, but we seek to provide financial support to more women students.

MADD Canada Bursary Fund
MADD Canada’s Bursary Program is open to applicants who have themselves been severely injured or who
have had a parent (or legal guardian) or sibling killed or severely injured as a result of an impaired driving
crash and who are enrolled in a full-time, ministry-approved, post-secondary educational program. Injuries
must be catastrophic or severe and have had a significant impact on the applicants’ lives. Proof of injury
and relation to impaired driving will be required.

The McCall MacBain Scholarships at McGill are Canada’s first leadership-driven scholarship for master’s and
professional degree students. They represent an investment in students who are developing expertise in

Each year, the National union of Public and General Employees offers four scholarships that reflect its

Neekoo Grant Program
Neekoo Philanthropic Society proudly launched the Grant Program in the late summer of 2012 with the aim
of providing financial support to young Iranian students as they pursue post-secondary education in a field
of their choice. Since 2012, we have supported close to 28 students with grant allocations of varying
amounts.
We are proud to be able to provide financial assistance once more to deserving students who have

The purpose of the Fund is “to assist any beneficiary selected under the provisions of the Trust to further

Ken and Elizabeth established this award to honour Rod MacLeod (Ken’s dad) and their friends Bill and Pat

Start Proud Student Leadership Scholarship
 Start Proud is committed to recognizing excellence in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer
(LGBTQ+) student community across Canada as an opportunity to help students excel in their career. To
support this commitment, Start Proud awards two scholarships each year to successful student leaders with
bright futures contributing to their school/community through leadership on campus, entrepreneurial
activities or advancing social causes. awards will be awarded at $2,500 each.
The Start Proud Student Leadership Scholarships are available to LGBTQ+ post-secondary students who are
enrolled for the Fall academic term in an accredited Canadian post-secondary program of study. One award
will be reserved for students in their first undergraduate program and the other for students pursuing post-
graduate studies.

Veronica Bailey Chapter AQ British Columbia Award
The Veronica Bailey Chapter AQ Scholarship was established in 2005 in memory of Veronica Bailey who was
a charter member of P.E.O. Chapter AQ on the North Shore. This award has been established to provide

BC Tech Scholarship
Investing in the future of the local workforce is one of the keys to success for the BC technology sector; this
includes the students, programs, and institutions that help make that happen. Established in 2005, the
industry-funded BC Tech Scholarship is proud to provide grants to students who have a proven passion for
technology, a desire to leave a mark in the tech sector, and are pursuing a post-secondary education in a
technology-related program.
Eligible disciplines include Engineering, Computer Science, Entrepreneurship, Biotech, Cleantech, IT &
Applied Technology, Business & Technology Management, Product Management, Digital Media, and other

Burnaby Historical Society Scholarship
This scholarship, given by Dr. and Mrs. Blythe Eagles in honour of Evelyn Salisbury, is an annual award of
$1,000 to an undergraduate student enrolled in a major or honors program in Canadian History with good
academic standing. Candidates must apply in writing outlining their course of studies and include a current

The C.D. Howe Scholarship Endowment Fund National Engineering
Scholarship
The C.D. Howe Memorial Foundation is offering up to two undergraduate scholarships (one to a male
student and one to a female student) valued at $7,500 CAD for students enrolled in an engineering program
in a Canadian university. The candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents who have
completed the first year of an engineering program. Each Dean or Department Head from each eligible
institution may nominate one male and one female candidate.

ISEE Western Canadian Chapter - Dick Shaw Memorial Scholarship
The scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student attending a college or university in Western Canada
who is studying a subject with some relevance to the non-military use of explosives or blasting. We are
flexible about the subject providing the applicant has an interest in pursuing a career that could involve
blasting. Students may be at any level. The applicant does not need to have any link to the Chapter or
explosives industry and does not need to come from Western Canada, providing he or she is studying here.

Mary B. Jordan YVR Scholarship for Women in Business
YVR established the Mary B. Jordan Scholarship to support women pursuing business studies in British

Kwi Am Choi Exhibition Scholarship Fund
In 2007 the family of talented artist Kwi Am Choi endowed the Port Moody Arts Centre Society (PMACS)
with funds to create the Kwi Am Choi Scholarship Fund. The fund was established to provide
encouragement and support to emerging artists between the ages of 15 and 30. The objectives of the fund
are to further the skills and experiences of student artists, to expand their artistic careers, and to enable

Musicians’ Dream Aid Scholarship
Musicians’ Dream Aid is proud to offer an annual scholarship for young musicians. The MDA Scholarship
must be used towards the tuition of a music school or program. Applicants must submit videos of two
contrasting performances, and these are judged by an adjudicator. This year we are offering our winner a
scholarship of $500 CAD and our runner-up a scholarship of $200.

Phyllis Taylor Scholarship
The Phyllis Taylor Scholarship is available to students who are furthering their education in the fields of
music or performing arts. Scholarships up to the value of $5,000 may be awarded annually.
As stipulated by the terms directed by Phyllis Taylor in her will, scholarship applicants must be attending an
accredited post-secondary institution pursuing programs or coursework in the fields of music or performing
arts; be, or have been, a resident of Richmond for a minimum of two years; be able to demonstrate

Vancouver Opera Guild Career Development Grant - Singers
The Vancouver Opera Guild will disburse a $6,000 Career Development Grant. This Grant will be available
to Canadian Citizens and those with Landed Immigrant status between the ages of 20 and 33 years. The
purpose of the Grant is to help people involved with, or preparing for, a career in the performance area of
opera, to improve their skills or to work on a personal project related to opera.
It will be awarded to a singer (between the ages of 20 and 33 years) who intends to make his/her career in
opera. Additional awards may be given when funds are available. Those involved in Production (stage
management, directing, costumes, set design, etc.) may apply for the 2020 Grant from the Fall (November)

This bursary was established by The Associated Boards of Health with funds which they had raised prior to
their dissolution in 1997. The bursary is named in honour of Dr. Ken Benson who, during a long career in
public health in British Columbia, was a Medical Officer of Health, an Associate Deputy Minister and public
health consultant to the Associated Boards of Health of British Columbia.

Janice Lee Blue Wave Youth Bursary
The Janice Lee Blue Wave Bursary honours the legacy of Janice Lee, an 18-year-old who struggled with
depression and anxiety for six years and took her own life in 2006. The following year, Blue Wave was
