A house for contemporary art in the old part of Merano. Open all year round, Merano
Arte presents changing exhibitions in the fields of fine arts, architecture, literature,
music, photography and new media on 500 square meters.
Architecture Exhibition: “New Architecture in South Tyrol 2012-2018”

A project by Arte Merano, South Tyrolean Artists’ Association and Architekturstiftung
Südtirol. For the third time since the editions in 2006 and 2012, an international group
of experts will be looking at the past six years of South Tyrolean construction business
in 2018. Out of nearly 240 submitted and nominated projects, a pre-selection of about
80 interesting buildings was made and these were then visited in the course of a
several-day trip on site. The architectural critic and former architect editor of the NZZ
Roman Hollenstein from Zurich, the architecture historian and lecturer at the Univer-
sity of Ferrara, the architecture editor of Casabella Marco Mulazzani and the Viennese
architect Marta Schreieck of Henke Schreieck architects have finally selected 38 build-
ings for the exhibition and have listed 24 more as very succesful for the catalog.
