While striving to develop concrete thinking based on a pragmatic ap- proach, I use theories, representations and methods of different scienti- fic approaches as instruments to progress in investigations and experi- ments. I’m dealing with concepts related to «le sensible» and my interest focuses more particularly on empathy, emotions, bodies and intersub- jectivity, whether from a social or biological point of view. It is about cir- culating, decomposing/recomposing, feeling around for, experimenting, tinkering and multiplying the axes of view while linking ethics, aesthetics and knowledge. My artistic practice is inspired by what can be called «art as research» where an interest in knowledge and a willingness to understand are es- sential. By systematizing curiosity I produce forms that intertwine art and science. As a result, the political dimension linked to affects emerges : how late capitalism and applied sciences are creating gouvernance tech- nologies and technics that focus on our intimate lifes and our inner body reactions? Various locations become spaces for studies, experiments, installations or presentations, producing a territory that links plastic work, perfor- mance and research. Affective Evaluation is a group created by Eva Zornio in 2018 and whose interests focus on topics related to affect theories. The work me- thodologies are transdisciplinary and produce plastic forms and spaces. The group aesthetics are shaped by the system of signs coming from neoliberalism instrumentalisation and population management. By crea- ting experimental units, the interventions and pieces invite the audience to step out of the role of spectator to act within the relational context created in the exhibition space. "The paramecium is dead. Apparently I killed it. I wanted to watch those forms, those tiny variations of emergence I was looking for a microscope I thought I would be able to see the invisible. I wanted to observe how form is emerging from a movement in a neurochemical valley and becoming what one can observe in an extended splash of attention. I found a live product to order: a parame- cium. When I saw the picture I knew it would be mine ! A wave of excitement drushed to my body I would give it so much love. And it would love me back for ever. Emotions exists, don’t they ? But why do they exist ? And what do they do ? Full of emotions is my paramecium. It swims closer when it feels safe. It flies away when danger is coming. A microscopic being : one simple cell. When specific conditions are satisfied the form emerges. It re- mains there for a while, affecting the course of events. And when specific conditions are not met anymore, the form disappears." ©Rebecca Bowring Life and Death of a Paramecium (2018) Performance 15’ Live editing with voice, videos and sounds Smallville (NE/CH), may 2018
